English Talent and Euros

Doesn't matter what talent we have as Southgate will still need room in his squad for about a dozen defensive midfielders.

Nah these lot are nowhere near that 'golden generation'. I think thats easily the best set of talent assembled by England and Sven couldn't get them past the quarters. Ferdinand, Campbell, Terry, Ashley Cole, Scholes, Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney, Owen..... Even Gary Neville. All widely recognised as top players. If you can't get to the final with that bunch then there really is no hope.

My mate sent me his XI for the Euros.

It had Dier in defence, Pickford in goal, Rice in midfield, Alexander-Arnold at left-back.

So bad it'll probably make an appearance one day.
Rice is doing ok from what I have seen this season tbf, never going to be a world beater but ok. If Godfrey keeps his form up he has a chance, and would do a better job at lb than Arnold.

That midfield is short of actual midfielders that he's not entirely out of the running. I mean Winks is probably going right now and he's awful.

Yep, no really top quality CM's. The CB's arnt too far behind either.

Gonna be hard to win anything with

Pickford
Maguire Mings
Winks Rice

Even Kalvin Phillips and Rice, still not good enough to compete with the best.

Henderson and Rice is a disaster pairing but I wouldn't be surprised to see it.

They’ll still go to the international tournaments, beat the crap teams then get absolutely webbed by the good ones.

Many good players. Maybe even a few top class ones. Add hype and expectation over what is reasonable, whilst ignoring the conveyor belts of talent from countries like Germany, France and Spain plus the likes of Belgium and Italy and Portugal. Get through the groups and ramp up the drunken fans until they become plastic chair throwers.

Then get cruelly exposed by the concept of incisive passing from teams in the final rounds and see the wheels fall off. A bit of navel gazing about what we need to do to compete in the next few tournaments before repeating the same tired story.

If we're really lucky, we'll crash out in a penalty shoot out and Jack Grealish can make a bomb from an advert eating KFC with a bucket over his head whilst Ross Barkley next to him asks if he knows him.

Am I right? Huh?!?

We could definitely win the Euros with a better manager. Someone like Ancelotti, or even Wenger, could get a tune out of them. However Gareth Southgate doesn't insult the FA and looks good in a blazer which is the most important criteria for the England manager. Therefore we'll play scared, negative football and lose on penalties or by the odd goal to the first half decent team we play.

• Will be hyped up beyond belief during the run up, all the young talent placed upon pedestals by the national media.

• Play dull football resulting in unexciting matches.

• Most likely scrape through the group stages, resulting in more hype from the national media.

• Exit in the early knockout stages

• Whole team and manager lambasted by national media for the rest of the summer.
