Entry requirements EFC v. Soton

You’re right, people don’t have to wear a mask in much the same way that staff don’t have to grant them admission into the ground. If you won’t put yourself to the minor inconvenience of wearing a mask I’d argue you don’t deserve the privilege of attending a footy match.
Everton haven't said masks 'must' be worn. Why would some weirdo who doesn't believe masks work or even that there's a virus wear one when they've basically been told it's their decision whether to wear one. They won't be denied admission because wearing a mask isn't mandatory. Again, that's the problem.

I agree the club should be clearer with their requirements. It’ll be interesting to see what the split is in the crowd between those with masks and those without.

Not at all, I think people should be able to venture out to wherever they want.
Nobody has said they can't go. In reality, people can choose to not wear a mask if they so wish, it's the right, but my personal opinion is why wouldn't they?

It's at most a small inconvenience to wear when travelling through the turnstiles, the concourse or toilets to help reduce transmission or simply to reassure.

Just because you can do something (not wear a mask) doesn't mean you should because morally I see it as a way of supporting the entire population.

The club could however make it a condition of entry as per their own T&Cs or code of conduct.

It isn’t a condition though. The post I replied to in the first instance, was suggesting that anyone who doesn’t is partly responsible for the deaths that will be shown on screen before the game.

When in reality, anyone who is at a high vulnerable category in relation to covid should probably not attend a football match at full capacity, where there will be people that will not be wearing masks and will not have had both vaccinations.

I think you'll be on for a big surprise. The problem with these kind of forums is that they're a bit of an echo chamber and suffer from confirmation bias. I don't think it's unfair to say that most here could be considered working to middle class liberals and these are precisely the group that are most compliant with government guidelines.

Out in the wild is a different story. I reckon people will bring their masks to get in and then take them off. If you understand human psychology you'll see that people will generally just do what everyone else is doing and if most people are taking masks off then everyone else generally will.

Exactly. Just know there will be idiots trying to get in at 255
Hey that's me. I finish work at 14.30 on Saturday, I'll be guzzling my 4th can on the way into the ground trying to get some kind of buzz going as heaven knows this shoite show of a club hasn't managed to stir my juices this summer.

Have a care for us working idiots and our penchant for a little booze after a nine hour slog and before a nearly 2 hour clown party boo-fest

You're right, it isn't a condition as I've previously said. Yet, it doesn't negate the point that morally people may feel it's right to wear one to protect everyone.

Nor is it simply about the highly vulnerable because it would be beneficial for all if the spread virus was contained and wearing a mask is one aspect of this.

Nor do I think he was suggesting they're to blame although he is implying they should feel some shame when you consider the wider impact COVID has had.

The basic point is that the club are asking people to wear a mask when they enter or in the concourse. Is that such a bad thing?

put them all in jail if they refuse to wear a mask, they dont deserve the privilege of being part of society lol lol

Are they really going to claim that certain people are "partly responsible for covid deaths"?

If so that's diabolical and we know EXACTLY where that kind of rhetoric leads to.

wait 12 months and the triple vaccinated will turn on the double vaccinated for not wearing a useless mask in an outdoor space!
God forbid people feel some sort of common bond with each other, you know, express their humanity. No everyone must absolutely be an individual and at each other's throat.

This is the hill I've chosen to die on I'm afraid. Vaccinated or unvaccinated I won't won't showing a bloody barcode to watch a football match or do anything else for that matter. If that makes me ostracised then so be it because we all know full well that once covid is long forgot the barcodes will be here to stay.

I love this football club, my father loves this football club and his father before him. But, as it stands, I'm going to be watching from afar.

And who are you to judge what fans choose to do?

We need a solution for all these mask avoiding vaxx dodgers. A final solution perhaps!
dont worry the govt are probably working on it!
anybody who is worried about someone walking through a turnstile without a mask will be horrified to know a week later we play at leeds and thousands of pissed up fans will be crammed in tiny transpennine rail carriages with standing room only,
they were horrendous before covid, god knows what delights network rail have in store!
