ESSG

If this is going to happen, then GOT need to get involved and make sure the forum gets a voice. I'm newish but I'm sure the old hands could come up with a few names we could all get behind. Better than sitting on the sidelines girning about not being listened to. There are a lot of sensible, intelligent blues on here and a lot of members. Just a thought.
I would be happy to hear what the Pro-Everton National and International Supporters say about this. And what they've emitted through their sub-group Steering Everton Members for Everton's New ground.

10,000 people survey.

Surely at least one person, apart from the stadium botherer, off here has had one, or evens knows someone who has, of these mysterious surveys?

Anyone??
We asked ten thousand people if they had received a survey...

Yet when several independent named Everton supporters groups and organisations representing thousands of fans
Who are these people and how do they 'represent thousands of Evertonians' when nobody has a clue who they are. They don't represent me. I doubt many would disagree with me on that.
you go straight into conspiracy mode and want to question every aspect
I want to know who they are, who chose them and how did they become available for selection
You are perfectly entitled to question them directly
Them being?

Haha. Feels a bit cloak and dagger until this point...

They've claimed to be working on this for 6+ months, and aiming to have it in place before next season.

Personally I'd have suggested transparency from the off.

Didn't the club learn nothing from crest gate? They 'consulted' the fans then (oh, look at those groups named...)

And then...

I've never known fans to be so unified against something.

I'm not a part of the ESSG, but because the EFC shareholders Association was one of the organisations selected, we had representation in the group and were occasionally briefed and asked for feedback regarding the issues raised in discussions/workshops/surveys by that group.

I remember hearing that GOT had given permission for use of their survey. So unless I'm mistaken (and I'm very happy to be corrected), GOT was aware of ESSG and the process from a very early stage. It was hardly a secret, with several similar processes going on at other clubs. They did their own survey and just got on with the task of pulling it all together into an initial proposal. They are by definition an interim group and independent. Essentially, what happens from now on will be entirely up to the voting fanbase.

And this is the problem a lot of fans have.

"Oh it's not me, but I'm involved, but, but'

Transparency.

Accountability.

Otherwise it fails.

I give the exact example with the crest. The same organisations involved. It's repeating the same mistake - box ticking fan engagement. It's easily done.

Don't be a wimp mate.

Given I started this thread on Friday and I've said a few times now I/GOT have/had no involvement in ESSG - to say otherwise is to call me a liar.

If you're going to call someone a liar, be brave. Have the balls to say it

For the record, Friday - 5 minutes before I started this thread is the first I heard of ESSG.

"It was hardly a secret" - I suspect for 99.9% of fans, Friday was the first they'd heard of ESSG. In fact, other than you - I've not come across another single Evertonian who was either involved or had awareness of ESSG but then to be fair I've not got many mates....

I'm happy to correct you - nobody from ESSG - whoever they are - approached me and asked for permission and so no, I hadn't heard of it.

Only one person/fan has ever approached me over the years with regards to the publicly available Everton fan survey and it was someone asking if they could use it to brief Tracey Crouch MP. That's it.

Nobody should have to ask me to use what is publicly accessible anyway;

Anyone get this?
I'm always being asked to answer questions via club circulars, none of them were ever badged ESSG as far as I can recall. Which means, if one of these polls was an ESSG survey as @Tom Hughes suggests, it wasn't clearly labelled as such and they are collecting information by stealth via official club channels. Sounds totally above board and independent

They haven't said that they represent you, how could they? They don't know who you are, you're a nom de plume on a forum (an irrelevant in your own words). You could well be a member of one of those groups and if you answered the GOT survey or the main survey you have already contributed to the process. Like your name.... only you will know that.

Individually, the ESSG members can only represent the committees of their respective organisations and have to update and seek feedback from those groups. I can only speak for the EFCSA in that respect. Our executive committee is a democratically elected body with a constitution. It is an organisation that was started over 80yrs ago. I'm only aware that the other oganisations have a very substantial combined membership and those are all named on the outline proposal doc. The interim group is made up of volunteers. They are trying to get something in place to allow the greater fanbase to elect a fan director and supporting advisory group to allow him/her to perform that role as effectively as possible.

Feel like @Tom Hughes is the whipping boy here.

But same as I said yesterday. Something seems off with the whole process, since then, all you’ve confirmed to me is it’s been ongoing for 6 months and there have been a few interactions with the club.

Same point as the others are making, how did this not slip through the net, at any stage? To the point when it got announced no one had a clue what was going on?

I know you’re saying that we’ll eventually get a say… but on what? Policies out about by the few who were included? Who gets elected (but they have to meet a criteria)?

I will be happy to hold my hands up, if/when I’m wrong, but this stinks. It’s coming across like a closed shop and that doesn’t sit right with me.

We'll get a say when @Tom Hughes and his crew say we'll get a say, on what they say we'll get a say on, and via whoever they decide we can vote for to say it to Everton. Democracy!

So, you admit that you have been formerly asked if your survey could be used by someone, and you agreed? You knew it was with respect to briefing the MP responsible for looking into changes in football governance...... which is the ESSG's role with respect to our club. I expect they felt the need to ask and reference their sources. It may have predated the formal ESSG set up.

As regards comparison with the badge debacle.... there was nothing like the same breadth of groups involved and this is only an interim group and initial phase, with the selection and election processes still to come. Do you remember voting for the badge? Nor do I. So it is hardly a valid comparison.

'Admit'

The hell are you on about?

You said they used our survey and so I must have known about ESSG.

No.

I said the only time anyone has asked about our survey was when a fan asked if they could use my survey for Tracey Crouch MP. I said go for it. Because, well - why wouldn't I? It's online. Everyone can use it - it's archived for everyone to see. That's the only time anyone has ever asked about the survey and the only reason I remember it is thinking it was odd for someone to ask to refer to the survey. I doubt it's even related to ESSG.

That's it.

First I heard of ESSG is Friday. /End.

So Tracey Crouch is part of the membership?

I just don't get why nothing has been mentioned at all. For example, while all this was going on there have been plenty of calls for transparency on the way the club is run, an idea of the direction the club is hoping to take. If this was all above board, with absolute transparency of what is happening, then why didn't you, an active member of the GOT community ever mention anything, even the slightest of hints? If you did then apologies, I have simply missed it. It just strikes me as odd that this has never been mentioned outside of a select few. Almost like you have all been hushed until a twitter account was created.

6 Months of club turmoil and seemingly nothing at all has been mentioned to anybody else within this community.

Surely you can understand peoples hesitance.
