....6 out of 7 games at home.

An illegitimate trophy win if it it happens...which it wont.

Jesus Christ, Dave. So the World Cup titles won by Uruguay (1930), Italy (1934), England (1966), Germany (1974), Argentina (1978) and France (1998) were all illegitimate trophies because the host country won? I always thought you might be a windup merchant. Now I'm sure.

France won the '98 WC in France. Is that an illegitimate asterisk trophy?
This makes no sense?

Was the 1998 World Cup played during Covid?

I was more hinting at putting an asterix after Liverpools name. Every competition during covid has felt a bit "off". This has had some very good games but it still feels a bit weird.

There's been crowds at every game. It's not max capacity but it's hardly that far from normal.

England will beat Italy on Sunday. As an Irishman, those words burn...but there is a sense of inevitability about it all now. England were the better side tonight, and they got a massive break. They took it. That's what winning sides tend to do. I'd be sickened if I were a Dane. I thought the officiating was very poor. I doubt the Italians can expect a better standard on Sunday. Referees are human and are influenced by big home crowds - especially after 18 months without them. They'll need to score a couple of very clear goals to win this, in my view, and any team with Ciro Immobile as its main threat is going to struggle to do that.

I like Gareth Southgate and these are good players. I don't think they have too much to fear now.
