I expect the Championship-level centre midfield of Rice and Phillips to be exposed today. The quality Italy have in the middle will have those two wondering what day it is for the 90 minutes.

England have been really fortunate not to see those two journeymen swamped so far. They are two players out of their depth by such a margin it's laughable.

Rice - been at West Ham since he was 14, has been playing Premier League football for 4 seasons

Phillips - been in the Leeds set up since he was 15, been a first team player since 2015
