It's like saying the people who stormed the Senate for Trump were a minority so Trump supporters in general shouldn't be seen in the same light. After all, millions voted for him, only a few thousands stormed the Senate, so it's not fair to make a big deal out of it right?

Makes no sense.
It’s the defeatist nature of the phrase as well: “it’s only a minority so no point trying to do anything about it”/“there’ll always be some bad apples regardless of what you do”.

Nah mate, I’d quite like to be able to take my little lads to a big game without being in genuine fear for their well-being. Increase police presence, identify offenders through CCTV images and make an absolute example of them, do something to deter these scumbags from doing what they do.

If there are 60,000 England fans out and about (I’m making that up based on ticket holders and an assumed gang of no-ticket chancers) and 1,000 are causing havoc (looks feasible based on pictures) that’s not the kind of minority that should be dismissed out of hand.

A 'minority' is a very wide term. 1,000 people out of 60,000 is technically a minority, but it's still 1,000 people, not 1.

The fact is English football has and continues to have a problem with hooliganism that isn't seen elsewhere, just like the RS have scum fans that rob tickets and cave peoples heads in with concrete slabs. It might be a 'minority', but it's a sizeable enough one to have the lot of 'em deserve the label.
You're right but it's not just a football problem IMO. Football is just kind of an excuse for a wider problem in English and British communities where young lads act like chimpanzees in little tribes and want to go out and cause trouble or beat someone up to show everyone how tough and rebellious they are.

It's the same in schools. In many countries, the best and most successful students are also the most popular and respected. In England (or at least my old school) the most popular students tended to be the rebels who didn't give a s*it and got into trouble, dealt drugs, or (especially) were the best fighters. I'd wager it's similar in Irish and Scottish communities too.

I think what really attracts English hooligans is having everyone talking about how awful they are, and the idea that they have to live up to their rep! If the media stopped giving them so much attention these kick-offs probably wouldn't happen so much.

I honestly don't think most of them really even give too much of a s*it about the football.

That fella being a bit dramatic like. End of the day it’s a load of moronic 20 year old lads wanting a bit of chaos. We are a country with a police force that doesn’t bear weapons, meaning crowds like this can gather without fear of repercussion. Idiots like this need to be expected & police plans drawn up effectively. Looks like a complete failure by the Met bosses

Cant wait for England to lose and for all the media to paint these "football fans" as hooligans. They aren't football fans. They're bandwagon jumping little Englanders. None of this happens in club football.

They don't deserve this England team or its manager who stand for all of the right things.

Hope the Italians absolutely tan them.
