I’m also slightly confused as to how Donnarumma got Player of the Tournament. Not saying Jordan should have got it but made more saves in the tournament, kept more clean sheets and saved as many penalties in the shootout. Surely if a keeper is getting it then it should have been Jordan
The two saves Donnarumma made against Belgium were world class.

I'd have given it to Raheem. The best player I saw at the tournament was Patrik Schick but it isn't going to a losing quarterfinalist.

I feel like alot of times they just give to the best player from the winning team

It's been awhile since they've done that at a Euro or World Cup. Off the top of my head before today they'd been Modric, Griezmann and Messi since 2014. I can't remember 2012 so maybe that one was. 2010 was Forlan I think.

England have the talent to compete next year as well. But with Southgate and no de facto home advantage, I doubt they will.
A good thing for England to have happen would be for Grealish to move to City and have about 25 G+As next season so Southgate has no choice but to play him. Also they really need Bellingham or someone of that style of midfielder to make themselves a starter. But they've got the talent still. And for his flaws Southgate has some good ideas pretty often.

Yeah I’m not saying Jordan should have got it. But he made two great saves tonight. The one before their goal will understandably be forgotten but was great. His save against Havertz and a few others too.

I guess Italy didn’t have one standout player, just a generally high level of performance. And then he saved 2 pens in the final.

But on every metric Jordan outperformed him in this tournament (well apart from the most important one I guess)

I think a great thing for England would be Kane going to City and having him, Sterling and Foden playing a lot together. But Grealish would fit into that too.

Hopefully Bellingham will carry on what he has done this season and Sancho will have more eyes on him now he isn’t playing abroad which is annoyingly still a factor.

The good thing England have going for them with regards to next season is that we aren’t going to lose any important players due to age. Injury possibly but most of the squad should be better in 18 months.

I'd be interested in what some of the more advanced stats say. Pickford's will be good because he didn't concede many goals but my guess is Donnarumma's are quite stellar as well. Splitting hairs I'd say.

Italy were the rare team where they had about 7 standouts so you couldn't easily pick one. For me Chiesa, Verratti, Insigne, both CBs and Spinazzola pre-injury were all fantastic.
