Nah I think it's Vardy he is on about, he is actually talking about a previous tournament and he said that the 'player' was asked and refused and has not played for the national team since then, and it's a senior player. I do remember something about this being mentioned before but no names have ever surfaced.

TBF there are loads of reasons why Vardy might never be picked again -his wife for starters.

This is for England though and he was never a popular selection for the national team, I can't think who else it would be tbh, the reason i think it might be him is that he just sort of vanished out of the team and then said he was retiring from international football. Any other ideas mate?

Vardy retired to keep his Prem career going a bit longer.
He’s on proper money and from the bottom of the leagues.. it’s worked and I can’t blame him one bit.

If you want me to guess who Jose was talking about, I’d say Stones.
He did that panenka one for us years ago, but he’s had loads of issues and I don’t think would take one now.
