The 3rd qualifying round would be a bit of a killer, but as there's a serious possibility we could finish 6th it could well happen. We'd have to start training and schedule in friendlies weeks earlier. Any players going to Brazil simply wouldn't feature in this qualifying round, as Martinez would have to give them a proper break before they started back in training.

Would the RS be having the season they're having now had they qualified for the Europa League? I highly doubt it.

That said I like watching everton (most the time) and with the winners gaining qualification to the champions league Id like us to give it a go next season.

You don't know whether we will win it or not.

The competition is not "a joke" and I for one have enjoyed our EL nights at Goodison and even if it was, it loses its "joke" status from next season when a CL place is the prize for winning.

I's say ITV4 coverage would have as big a potential audience reach as Sky does.....the CL only receives mass viewing figures when it is on ITV 1.

You do make several good points however.

Too many Sunday games.....I particularly hate home games on winter Sundays as County Road is a most depressing place to walk along of a winter Sunday afternoon.

And I make you almost right about playing on a Wednesday rather than a Thursday.

IMO they should move it to Tuesday.....and have it as a curtain raiser to two nights of CL football. An appetiser as it were.

That way it wouldn't be a case of after the Lord Mayor's show and the CL on Thursday night would be quite appealing, I would have thought.

County road on a winter sunday haha

Starting from this edition, the UEFA Europa League winners will qualify for the subsequent UEFA Champions League season.[5] Therefore, the winners of this tournament will qualify for the 2015–16 UEFA Champions League. They will enter at least the play-off round, and will enter the group stage if the berth reserved for the Champions League title holders is not used.

What happens if the winners have already qualified for the CL through their own league, do the runners up then qualify for the CL?

Used to rely on Donations from the community too. As well as people going the match always went in smart attire (suits etc).

Only the English don't take the Europa seriously, everywhere else enjoy and welcome it. It's a chance to improve the brand, sign higher profile players and now most importantly, it's a competition that can be a route into the UEFA CL.

Oh, I don't know. Spurs seemed to be taking it very seriously when I watched them at Benfica this morning.

In fact, now that I think about it, they've come back late in games from a few difficult positions in the EL this
season.

We gave it a good shot in 2008/9, too. Would probably have won it if we'd held our nerve in the penalty shoot-out against Fiorentina.

If you watch that video of the EL run also it seems to be the emergence of vic n Vaughan. Could use it that way to give the likes of browning, lunstrum, long and Jon o'connor a chance
