Well, they're all tricky games there... I wouldn't want to predict any of them.
I think all the seeded teams should progress. Steau are no pushovers, APOEL did quite well in the CL a few years ago if I can recall, Salzburg will be to strong for Malmo but I can see Celtic [Poor language removed] up again.

Yeah they should go through in reality, but it's never that simple is it?

Malmo are doing great so far, and may have the bit between their teeth.
I feel for Ludogorets Razgrad, as they were going to be seeded, before Celtic got reinstated, they've lost out and get the top seed, tough luck, but Ludogorets did great in Europe last year, beating Partizan Belgrade, PSV home and away, topping their Europa Group, before going on to knock out Lazio, so don't write anyone off, not just yet.

We're gonna need a few favours for Pot 2, but i'll take any pot really, we're good enough to go through.

League route:

Either way 5 teams will enter the EL with higher coefficients than us.
So if they have higher coefficients than us and go down the EL, how will we end up in pot 2? I don't get it.

In league route you have clashes between Napoli and Bilbao (both have higher coef than us), Besiktas and Arsenal (same), Porto and Lille (same) etc. So we will end up in pot 3 for sure?

Basically it'd be like a 1 out, 1 in system, the teams in green all have a higher coefficient, whilst the ones in red, well they do not.

So for every side in green to drop down into the Europa, we need a team with a higher coefficient in the Europa League to drop out, so for everyone one that drops down, we need a team to get knocked out if that makes sense.

Ah, I forgot about the ones with lower coef. I'm stupid :)

Say in the worst case scenario and the 5 teams in red (who we want to lose) win then
We will need 5 out of any of these teams to lose:
Lyon, Inter, Spurs, PSV, Villarreal, Twente, Metalist Kharkiv, PAOK, Club Brugge, Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, Trabzonspor, Panathinaikos, Sparta Prague and Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Yeah, I'm getting it now.

Well, from my point of view it would be better if we ended up in pot 3 (german and belgian teams are in pot 2) but it's quite impossible as things stands.

It's doable, all we need is a greater dropdown rate, than teams knocked out. Your likes of Inter, Lyon, Spurs aren't going to go out, so i'd say there's about 5-6 who could go, and 5 who can drop, so there's still a lot of if's and but's.

Focusing on the EL draw for a sec, I think it gives us hope of making pot 2....
Assuming the top teams (Lyon, Inter, Spurs, PSV and Villarreal) win and enter the EL group draw, that leaves a cluster of teams above us in the ranking (ie, forecast to be in Pot 2 or above) but who might go out in round 4 (allowing us to climb higher into Pot 2 for the group draw).

They are:
FC Twente Enschede Ned 50.862
Metalist Kharkiv Ukr 45.693
PAOK Thessaloniki Gre 37.720
Club Brugge Bel 32.260
Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk Ukr 32.193
Trabzonspor Tur 31.340
Panathinaikos Gre 30.220
Sparta Praha Cze 28.870
Borussia Mönchengladbach Ger 25.328

Some of their matches, against teams ranked lower than Everton, look kind of even...(but any European football buffs, please enlighten...)

Sarajevo(BIH) v Mönchengladbach(GER)
Zwolle(NED)v Sparta Praha(CZE)
Dnipro(UKR)v Hajduk Split(CRO)

And, just maybe...
Trabzonspor(TUR)v Rostov(RUS)
Ruch(POL)v Metalist(UKR)

If any of the teams in bold lose their 4R tie, we move up in the ranking.
