Eva Carneiro leaves Chelsea

So she should. She's got him bang to rights as well.

Not sure the sexism card is the right play though as there will be about ten employment laws she could utilise too.

Mourinho should have apologised immediately when he realised he was wrong and, to be blunt, so should have Eden Hazard for his playacting.

Agreed, the sexism card isn't really necessary

Fact is, if the ref waves her on she HAS to come on. That's Jose defeated immediately

I'm sure he'll settle out of court

It is strange, yet indicative of football, that he had a go at her for going onto the field, yet not Hazard for cheating in the first place. Sadly, that kind of attitude seems to sum up Mourinho.

It seemed like he'd had an issue with her for a while and he saw this as a good chance to get her into bother

However, she has the rules and regulations very much in her favour here, and it may very well come back to bite him

As previous posters mentioned, Mourinho likes to be a popular figure amongst his players. Maybe due to the popularity of Eva, he was starting to see her as a threat to the cult like adoration he normally gets from his players?

She's 100% in the wrong. She's not a normal doctor because she's part of the team and Mourinho was right that she made a mistake in the context of the game and who are we to argue that it wasn't a mistake that she made.

He then treated her exactly the same as the male colleague and afterwards she went on social media and undermined his position.

There's definitely sexism at play here but it's the fact that deep down everyone feels sorry for Eva Carneiro, the pretty young female doctor getting a verbal assault from Jose Mourinho, the grumpy old man.

Frankly this whole case will set back equality decades because it shows in a male competitive environment hiring women is a risk.

I still hope he loses.

You're 100% wrong.

The other problem Mourinho has is while I agree with him he needs to take the smart course of action and make this go away quickly with the least amount of further damage.

Mourinho is a fighter and stands up for his principles even though it's not the wisest course of action. I can see Mourinho self destructing his Chelsea management over this not intentionally but just because he won't be able to help himself.

She was waved on by the referee, she was therefore entitled (and obligated) to go on the pitch to treat Hazard.

Don't be so naive. That's like saying the ball boy needs to give the ball back in the last minutes of the game when the away side are chasing a goal or that a player shouldn't go down when touched in the penalty area.

The other thing is you are arguing tactics with a manager who has one of the best records in history.

Plus whether you agree with him or not it is irrelevant. He's the boss and has every right to vent at her for something he believed she did wrong.

A Doctor is under a legal obligation, a ball boy is not. There's a reason the likes of the BMA are supporting her. If a player's heart fails whilst his team is attacking, does the team doctor need to obtain the manager's permission before entering the field? Of course not.
It's not a tactical issue, it's an issue of ethics and law.

I never realized there was a law in the case of injury on the football field a doctor has to go on when instructed by the ref.

Do you have a link for that?

If not then it comes down to judgement and my point still stands.
