Bit unfair on Billy that
Not good no. Not in the top 20/30 worse signings by a long way.He wasn’t very good really, was he? Aside from 3 nostalgic goals.
....’worst ever’, yet the options are mainly recent times. i’m sure there’s a few in the 60s and 70s worth a mention.
You’ve listed a certain player who won Everton’s player of the season award, surely for that alone he shouldn’t be on the list.....Who is the biggest waste of money in our history?

Thanks to our professional pundits he had more names than goals! He wasn’t very good really, was he? Aside from 3 nostalgic goals.
It’s value for money-based, not a question of who’s our worst player. Big John Johnson who cost £87.30 from Huddersfield in 1952 doesn’t count.
But 87 ponds was serious wedge back then for a player. I remember it well absolute disgrace. Worse than Billy in price comparison. What was he 8 million? It’s value for money-based, not a question of who’s our worst player. Big John Johnson who cost £87.30 from Huddersfield in 1952 doesn’t count.
What made it worse was they were replacing McKenzie and RiochWe once bought Mickey Walsh and Geoff Nulty on the same day!
Only Everton could do that.
...£87.30 was a lot of money when players used to get the to matches on a tram.
I remember us spending £1m for Mo Johnson when £1m was a lot of money for us, although he scored in a Derby he was clearly a spent force. Williamson and Bilic costly failures from West Ham, Henry Newton saw us go backwards after the departure of Alan Ball. Rod Belfitt coming in when we’d had a number of great strikers, Mick Ferguson & Walsh after his goal of the season other considerations.
I’m being pedantic but given the thread title, I suspect it was better not to give options and let posters from various generations have their view.
