Now we are out of the Carling Cup as well as F.A. cup our boys could get some rest over the weekend and prepare for the big one against Spurs, same time next week.

Told you we won't get a single favour from this referee, he hate Moyes and that's why the F.A. pick him.

I am saying we are on top of the game, we are not getting alot of the 2nd ball, but neither did they play at there best they were just playing like the RS, All defence and All attack.

We never foul there keeper he drop the ball himself, the play should be carry on, that why I am saying we are not going to get any favour from him, a tackle from our player is a foul or even yellow card, same tackle from there player no foul, a slight push or pressure from our player is a foul, but when they does it to our player is fine, talk about bias.

If only we finish them off in the first legs, oh well, let's work on the league and UEFA cup.

careful, some sniper might try to gun you down for questioning the referee.

everton blackburn, spring 2005, (i think) turner handles the ball outside of the area - red card, down to ten men in the first half.

why is cech allowed to handle outside the area?

finally got that dream final.

Have to admit im not a paid up memebr of the Jags at centre back club but thought he did an excellent job on Anelka tonight and held the line pretty well credit were its due!

arent refs great ! in the first leg, [Poor language removed]-fillups has both hands on lescotts shoulders, but the ref doesnt see it. in tonights game a strand of jagielks hair accidentally brushes cech and its a foul ! on such things are games decided. the sooner we get rid of dickheads like bennet and clattenburg and everything is decided by video-robots the better.
ps its still great being an evertonian
pps bin valente now
pps Q. why do kopites stink ? A: so the blind can hate them too

Well I'll be the first to admit that while my heart thought we might be able to take it, my head kept telling me that we'd never get it done. Not for a lack of effort mind you. Just that Chelsea's "B" squad could easily be in the top four this year as well if they played as a separate team.

I didn't think any Everton player played poorly. Cech certainly kept them in the game pure and simple. Unfortunate that just about every chance we created came from a set piece but you take what they give you.

Good to have a bit of a break now and let's keep the league form rolling.

i've read alot of comments about the atmosphere? i was watching in the pub and i didn't hear much from either fans but apparently chelsea were alot louder.
was it actually like that or just where the sky microphones were?

It seems to depend on who did the broadcasting as far as I can tell. I listened on Radio City and Goodison was rocking all the way up to their goal, especially in 1st half, meanwhile on Radio Merseyside it was more sedate and on Radio 5 it sounded a bit like an audience in a swimming pool. Some chelski fans have been on 606 claiming they outsang us , all 23 of them.

as i said, i watched sky but the sound was particularly loud. Just read on TW a supporter saying it was great. Obviously chelsea fans will claim to outsing us but i couldn't see it happening!

If anyone used 'outsinging us' as a way of demonstrating their superiority I would mock them, openly, and send them back to soccer am.

We're Everton, we're the tits and too cool to sing.

Am i the only one who doesnt feel as gutted as normal after a defeat? it hasnt bothered me for some reason...

I'm disappointed but not gutted because we played okay and Chelsea plyed better. Simple really. They won because they were the better team and perhaps had the rub of the green but I can hold my head up high. We were okay and we did well to reach this far.

I couldn't watch this :( I was blinded by Chelsea's ugly kit. Bit of a pity really about the whole losing thing hey.

I think Chelsea showed their class last night, pure and simple. OK, they have the money to buy players like Joe Cole who ultimately undid us, and spend more in one season than DM has spent in all the time he's been in the job, but they never looked defensively frail and it was going to take something very special for us to get the one goal we needed from the start, let alone the two we needed in the end.

As for us, I'm not downhearted because - misplaced passes aside - we played well enough considering the strength of the opposition; we still have the UEFA cup to go for and are looking good for a bare minimum 6th place even if we don't hang on to 4th. I think the Spurs game will be a big test anyway, let alone the fact the players will be down but, looking on the bright side, Nigeria's manager is Bertie Vogts so Joey and the Yak should be home in time to play in the match!
