I don't think it's a gross exaggeration at all in all honesty. Nor was I "trashing" the player. I was just pointing out the blatantly obvious. It wasn't an attack on your post which you seem to think it was, going by the sarcastic nature of your reply.

Now why do you think i'm being a bit sarcastic? Because you're trying to say that Neville has strung together five good passes in his entire career at Everton. Ok, FOUR to be pedantic using your parameter. This is just patently LUDICROUS, and as far as i'm concerned that amounts to trashing the player.

We all know that Nev is past his best. I guess he knows it too. He still wants to play because he loves the game and he loves Everton. Maybe Moyes should be wise enough to call it a day for him. I suspect that he will be dropped to the bench more and more as the season progresses, injuries to other players permitting. What saddens me is that some of you on here are just a bit too disrespectful to some of the guys who wear the shirt. As soon as things go wrong all the good times are forgotten. A few months ago Ossie and Hibbo were getting a lot of stick, now all of a sudden, after a few good performances that anyone without short-term memory loss knew Ossie was capable of, he's a key member of the squad, and people will be welcoming Hibbo back too. Let's not forget the good times before we disrespect our players. Maybe some of them read these forums. Maybe they have feelings too.

Re comments about Moyes and Drenthe. I really like what i see in Drenthe, but i don't think we'll sign him up, primarily because we won't be able to afford him. But i sure hope the relationship between him and Moyes doesn't break down. It seems to me that Moyes' biggest fault might be man-management issues. Maybe he's trying to emulate SAF and scare the sh*t out of his squad. Unfortunately, it probably doesn't work as well for Moyes, because until he gets a few trophies under his belt he isn't going to be accorded the same respect.

It's a bit disrespectful for you to lump everyone together who in any way critcises one of our players. I am one of the least critical of our players on here. The difference with Neville is that he's been like this for years. He very often gives the ball away to an opposition player. And I still haven't forgotten his "real fans" comment from last year.

Ok, look i've got no personal vendetta against you, i just thought your comment about you being able to count on one hand the amount of decent passes Neville has made in his entire Everton career was a gross exaggeration. I think you'll find that, for all his errors, he actually makes at least this many good passes in one game.....

He actually said crosses not passes................................. :P

The cross he put in last night for Cahill to hit the bar was a superb cross, but probably 90% of his crosses normally are those powderpuff chipped efforts.

Ok, point taken and my apologies to The Equaliser for this. However, it's still ludicrous to suggest that Neville has only put in four decent crosses in his entire Everton career. Next time he plays i'll be watching him carefully.

Btw, i don't disagree that Neville is now one of the weakest links in the team, and last night he was the weakest. I just think we should give all the players who fight for the shirt with PASSION their due respect.

EDIT: just in case some of you read the above before i noticed my typo, i've now changed 'agree' to 'disagree!' :)

better performance last night.

a few observations.
1. alot more movement off the ball last night and passing was alot a million times better.
2. apart from Howard there was a lot less hoofing, this really helped us get control of the game.
3. we played with a faster tempo. everton have always looked good when we play with a high tempo.
4. fellaini had his best game for a while and was MOTM for me.
5. Donavan is different class and we will really miss him when he leaves.
6. Strac!!! what happened? he scores a great header and all of a sudden he is winning everything, the ball is sticking and he looked like a really good centre forward.
7.Nevile was awfull, he was the worst player on the pitch. cahill also didn't offer much. (a lot more than neville though)
8. Drenthe was winding everyone up whilst warming up, he was even poking Jol in the back as he ran past!. i love this guy!!.
9. i sat behind the dug out last night and moyes never stops shouting at Drenthe. At one point Drenthe was standing in space on the wing (giving us width) we had the ball, Moyes was screaming at him to push in, you could see Drenthe looking at him in disbelief. they ended up having a little spat and cahill had to calm him down..
10. no way will moyes keep drenthe from what i witnessed. personally i would rather keep Drenthe.
11. gibbson looks overweight, but the signs look quite good when he gets fit.

Drenthe is one of the most illdisciplined players at the club for giving the ball away and not playing as a team player within a unit. I love how you're prejudging whats actually going on.

You're expecting the manager to be "best mates" with the players - when in actual fact its a happy medium between fear/best mates.

I think you need to get a grip and let Moyes do his job. You know the thing you'll be complaining about either way. FFS.

Yeah.

His job is making Everton win football matches. Not benching our most potent attacking player who scores goals and assists others because he sometimes gives the ball away by trying to help us score goals.

As opposed to Neville or *insert any other player who hardly ever gets dropped * who give the ball away in their own half regularly due to ****eness.

I didn't realise my post above was addressed to you?

Was it?

Drenthe was gash against Villa. And has been guilty on multiple occasions of giving the ball away and being selfish when attacking instead of looking for someone else. Moyes unleashed him on several occasions, but ill-discipline does not win games. So Drenthe is having to adapt.

This isn't fecking school yard football ffs.

I'd like to see flair players on as much as anyone but Drenthe is one of those players that needs a bit of schooling in discipline in the English game. I don't blame Moyes for talking him through games because, as we saw at Villa, he will make errors that are costly. Sometimes considerably more than he will produce quality. That is where he becomes more of a liability than anything else.

I don't want the spark extinguished, I just think that if we got a player like him educated on how to be more effective than erratic then he'd be a top, top quality player with that spark that your Rooneys and, to give an example of a similar player, Nanis have. Nani wasn't a fixture in the United team for a long time when he arrived but you knew he was quality. He just needed to be eased into the English game otherwise he'd have been a liability.

There have been enough flair players with undoubted quality who have failed in England due to inflated egos and unwillingness to listen to instructions.

All that said, we're not really in the position to be picky with our more skillful players while Osman's out so I'd like to see Roy playing a bigger part.

I think you said it better than me lid. But exactly this. You've got to be disciplined. I like Drenthe. But he's got to learn and listen.

He's got to know when to rein it in and when he can just unleash. Also to rely on his team mates more and work with them.

Schooling is exactly that lid. School of Science and all that.
