Can I just say how much i enjoyed the American commentary. Was ace.

Wilkins and Alan Smith should listen and learn.

JP Dellacamera was the play by play guy. Grew up listening to him broadcast the old Major Indoor Soccer League matches, the Pittsburgh Spirit.

Eric Wynalda was one of the better US players in the 90s, played in the Bundesliga.

As for the match, really happy for Straq. Everton should have had a second goal in the first half with all the pressure. Fulham did very little in reality.

Hello Everton fans - Congrats on the win today.

As an avid LA Galaxy / Landon Donovan fan and season ticket holder, today's matchup versus Dempsey and Fulham was can't miss. Was glad to see your side get the win.

A couple of questions:
1. How would you describe LD's role w/ the team so far? What's the expectation for him going forward?
2. Phil Neville, as another poster mentioned earlier, is showing his age, but plays with a TON of passion. Having never watched him play before, I'd love to see him play with MLS before his career is over. Was that cross into Cahill an exception, or is he usually an offensive threat?
3. The offense looked very stagnant at times. What needs to happen in order to get things going?

Best of luck on Tuesday. I think this American needs a new jersey. :)

Thanks,
Eric

Welcome, even though you're a Galaxy fan. :P

As for the q's:

1. LD has arguably been MOTM for two out of the last 3 matches, his didn't play all that well against Blackburn, but I think fatigue might have been an issue there, tough to play 5 matches in 2 weeks. But against Aston Villa I think he was definitely MOTM and up there with Felli tonight. I think Everton has been a bit more threatening since he arrived, he would be more so if Saha could finish, LD seems to find him often.

2. Neville has gotten progressively worse this season, IMHO, it sucks but that's what age does. On some teams in the MLS he would be a down-grade at left or right back. On several other MLS teams he wouldn't be much of an improvement, other than his experience and leadership, which is about all his value would be by next season with the way things are going. I think he definitely could hang, but if any team expects a huge improvement, I think they'd be pretty disappointed. And no, he is not an offensive threat at all.

3. Stagnant offense and Everton in the same sentence?! Preposterous! (seriously though, this match is a vast improvement on offense this season, I don't think they've attacked so hard yet)

1. Donovan hasn't lived up to his first loan spell despite saying that he felt better than he ever has before. He's still been one of the better players in the team when on the offensive, but he's not being utilised properly because of the way we're playing at the moment.
2. Neville is over the hill, and i highly doubt he will ever play in the MLS simply because he has two young children and his whole family is based here. His 'MLS time' has come and gone i feel.
3. We need a playmaker in the middle of the park, and a proven striker. That won't solve everything however, our play in general is indeed slow as s***.

SoCalGalaxy

1. He has been their best player since the loan signing. If not their best, very close. If Saha wasn't on the pitch and we actually had a striker who was worth anything, it would be a hands down our best player. His crossing has been fantastic for the most part.

2. I think I'm the only one on here that thinks Neville is our biggest problem. Old, slow, and has a pitching wedge for a foot...on virtually every pass. When he gets into coaching...which I think he will...he can show videos of himself of what not to do. Was that cross to Cahill an exception? I'd call it a miracle.

3. A right back with pace that can hit a solid cross. A striker that gives 100%. A creative midfielder that can play people into space.

Totally agree re Neville. Like playing with 10 men at times. Landon lost a bit of gas but still superb on the ball

better performance last night.

a few observations.
1. alot more movement off the ball last night and passing was alot a million times better.
2. apart from Howard there was a lot less hoofing, this really helped us get control of the game.
3. we played with a faster tempo. everton have always looked good when we play with a high tempo.
4. fellaini had his best game for a while and was MOTM for me.
5. Donavan is different class and we will really miss him when he leaves.
6. Strac!!! what happened? he scores a great header and all of a sudden he is winning everything, the ball is sticking and he looked like a really good centre forward.
7.Nevile was awfull, he was the worst player on the pitch. cahill also didn't offer much. (a lot more than neville though)
8. Drenthe was winding everyone up whilst warming up, he was even poking Jol in the back as he ran past!. i love this guy!!.
9. i sat behind the dug out last night and moyes never stops shouting at Drenthe. At one point Drenthe was standing in space on the wing (giving us width) we had the ball, Moyes was screaming at him to push in, you could see Drenthe looking at him in disbelief. they ended up having a little spat and cahill had to calm him down..
10. no way will moyes keep drenthe from what i witnessed. personally i would rather keep Drenthe.
11. gibbson looks overweight, but the signs look quite good when he gets fit.

Congratulations from germany. Really happy with the team performance! This night was a typical Everton performance, with heart and passion to glory. Hope we could keep it up for the league games.

I´m really happy and wear my EFC kit the whole day...

Greetings

PS: When is the draw?

As a lot of you have said this was our best game of the season. Which is encouraging considering the amount of injuries we have right now.

:D Duffy, Strac, Felli, and Donovan were absolutely amazing. They gave everything tonight and it came off for them. I don't know who to pick as MotM, I guess Strac 'cause that was the best celebration I've seen in a long time! :D Duffy is fantastic, if he keeps this up then I will have no problem with Distin leaving. Him and Heitinga seem to have a good partnership going. I haven't seen Cahill play this well since last season, hopefully this means he is getting over his slump! Gueye had some bright spots and great corners. As the commentators were saying I think he is just a bit timid. He could be a player if he adds some more confidence to his game. I liked Gibson, he quietly went about his job, stringing up passes and some good tackles. Didn't see much of Drenthe. I imagine he will be starting again on the right once Donovan leaves.

We had some pretty boss one touch triangles going on. I don't know what Moyes did but everyone on the pitch seemed to be moving more and the overall teamwork improved immensely.

LOL Neville

tomorrow!

Best spells of pressure were ours, best chances were ours. We got the win, and did it from going a goal down. Well done us.

I agree. You'll seldom see a perfect footballing performance, but I saw enough last night to be positive that we can improve further.
