Im a little surprised by the views. For once in while I can say I watched the whole game and will respond to above comments thusly.

Monty - We didnt look tired, only at the end when we were knackered. Remember, in Abgonlahor and young they have two of the quickest players in the game.

Danny - So who else do we have thats huge and can play in midfield? Oneil was really rolling the dice, taking off defender after defender in search of the goals. Moyes resposded positivley by at leaving the strikers on to expose Villa pushing up. No coincidence the goals were all scored in the second half of the second half if you know what I mean. A point at home to Villa is a good result if you look at our form, and then look at theirs. Its all about confidence and we got some today with the Final in the 'best of the rest' group. The second half we started like the first, guns blazing.

To the Arteta haters - Hes coming back from injury, so dont throw him on in the game where he just might create that spark and win the game? Its a gamble and Id rather see Tater on the field than off it. He gave Barry to much space? How bout the defender or defenders that were beaten to the ball, or Howard glued to his line? It was a great ball and put away well.

To the Ossie haters - Abgonlahor is as fast as superman in the sack, he managed to get inches infront of the Oz from a bullet corner that skidded over three players. Howard beaten right over his head too.

To the why is Yakubu playing as a winger posse - Because thats how we scored the second goal and created numorous chances for the Yak to power in shots which he did. Villa have get forward backs which can be exposed by playing the strikers in the channels, taking Laursen and Melberg with them so you get your Ossies and Fernandes' in. This is where Cahill laps it up.

To the were going to lose at Arsenal brigade - Get a grip there. Arsenal have exactly nothing to play for and we do. Wigan will do the job against Villa and snicker a point so pick yourselves up and get ready to go down to the wire. At least its not to stay in the Premier league this year.

To the Amanda Holden gang - she's smokin who is she?

McOut.

Don't put me down as an Arteta hater, I know he isn't fit I just don't think he should've come on when we were winning. :D

I'll do you one better.

I said at the beginning of the season that our last four matches against Chelsea, Villa, Arsenal, and Newcastle were gonna hurt. Boy how right was that?

Furthermore, our form is absolute crap right now. We haven't dominated anyone. We lack scoring punch from those who should be giving it to us. And our defense has been terrible.

So, not only do I think we'll lose at Arsenal, I don't think we'll get anything out of an in-form Newcastle either.

And this coming from someone who is usually one of the most positive, optimistic members of this forum.

We needed three points today and we didn't get it. Hello Intertoto.

calling that we'll struggle against what looked like some of the top sides in the league at the beginning of the season is nothing to be proud of

the odds are against us i will admit, but if we can salvage a draw against arsenal away (like we did last year), we'll just need our result against newcastle to match villa's against west ham to stay in it.

arsenal have nothing to play for and we have everything to play for. we all know what wenger is like, he's going to try out every toddler he can find, which could work to his advantage but it may also backfire.

We dont, which is why I am baffled as to why a midfielder in a 4 man midfielder was doing a defenders job of man marking one of their strikers. It forced us deep with a three man midfield.

and what about my biggest worry Macca

'The biggest worry I have from this game is not so much the fact that we dropped even more points today to our nearest rivals but even worse than that we ran out of ideas and that is scary'

no one has answered that one yet mate

The only real creative player that has had a genuinely injury free run in to the season's end is Manny whilst he was on the pitch I thought he and Yakubu were the only players asking questions of Villa. Dowd, refusing to let Yakubu use his arms to outmuscle the Villa defenders didn't help on the ideas front. Especially when Carew is doing the exact same thing and getting away with it,

so our Creative midfielders who we usually look to, to provide ideas and some killer passes have all been injured recently Osman Arteta and Pienaar are probably playing with injuries still if they're not they're just getting over them and will not be upto full speed yet.

Hopefully, with game time under there belts and a rest after we battled our way to a draw they might start to relieve some of the creative burden that Manuel Fernandes seems to be carrying single handedly at the moment. Then we might get to see some good attacking football that we've been treated too earlier in the season.

We made youthful mistakes to concede two important goals yesterday. I loved our enthuasim and play more than I have in the past few weeks. My favorite son Lescott went human and did some ordinary things that led to both goals. Of course its easy to play the blame game but we just weren't good enough yesterday to put this season to bed.

At least a draw with Arsenal is needed in a big way and a convincing win against the Barcodes. Anything less and we are staring at a early summer Inter-Toto.

Sorry. Should have clarified that.

When the schedule came out for the season, I looked to see who our last few games were against just in case it might mean something.

I wasn't encouraged at the time (and this was before anyone knew what Newcastle was going to be like this year) so it wasn't a matter of thinking we'd be crap as it was a matter of knowing that in all probability, those would be some tough matches to play.

Doesn't matter who you are. If you're playing Chelsea and Arsenal at the end of the season, it's gonna be tough and in all likelihood, we'd struggle to get a result against them. Villa to a lesser extent.

tbh Fernandes never filled me with inspiration yesterday but neither did the Pieman or Ossie both of which were far less productive than Manny. I still cannot understand that substitution as it made no sense. It seems to me that we played with passion for about 20 minutes, 70 minutes less than is necessary. In the first half the best team should have gone in two or three clear and it wasn't us.

We are being asked big questions but we don't have the answers. I fear that Joleon will be missing for the next game and that really does scare me and I can see my scariest nightmare coming true, the Barcodes doing us on the last day.

The substitution was a very poor one. Ossie was mysterous the whole match and he was the one marking Abolonlahor(sp) for the first goal. Hopeless on that one I'm afraid. He should have been given the exit first. Was the exchange of Arteta for Fernandes telling us something for the future. I think it does. I did see Manny doing more than both Stevie P or Ossie combined but maybe I was missing something.

I have to give Neville his due. He looked like a player yesterday. There now I feel better. I was happy for him netting the first one for us I hope there is more to come from him in the future.

That was pissisng me off the whole game

1st chance to post on this match. 1st of all it was a great match with none of the bullshit you see from Terry, Drogba, Ferguson etal. Neville played really well on Sunday despite ONeill's stragety to leave the leave Lescott alone and go after Neville with Gabby. Neville was all over the pitch coming up to assist with the attack and getting back and flying in tackles.

If there is a quibble I have with Moyes is that this isn't 2004, this team isn't very good at holding a 1-0 lead with more than 20 minutes left in the match. We are at our very best attacking now and we have to put our trust that Jags, Yobo and Lescott (the strength of our team) can do the job in the back.

I didn't think the 1st goal was Osman's fault (though Osman was invisible on Sunday that wasn't his fault), Gabby was a step too fast and Osman was only a few inches away from getting a foot on the ball. The 2nd goal we gave up, I just remember screaming at Arteta to at least try to put a bit of pressure on Barry. That wasn't the fault of the defender who was defending Gabby, Barry had all day to pick him out.

We'll beat/draw if we play like that against Arsenal.

Dont underestimate Wigan, they've been playing pretty well.

My best friend's brother-in-law is an Aston Villa fan...let's just say it's a good thing he isn't my brother-in-law or he could forget ever getting a christmas present again after his motoring mouth the past few days.

My solid foundation of faith in David Moyes is starting to crack...
