Well the game wasnt bad, and the result isnt too bad either really...we need a draw and a win to guarantee 5th place, but i doubt aston villa are going to slip up against wigna and west ham, so its all up to us.

It was a good 2nd half, completely different from the 1st. Just a few queries though...now i like Arteta, but 2 things about that substitution - why bring on a player who hasnt played football in about 20 days?? and also why take off one of the best players of the match? Fernandes was finding some great passes, one of his best matches tbh...
...It was stpid conceding a goal straight afterwards, who was supposed to be marking barry? He literally stopped, had a good 5 seconds to look up and find a pass - ridiculous.

Tbh i think MoM contenders were - Neville, Jagielka, Fernandes. And id say Jagielka was MoM, because he was great all match.

Dom we have 2 games left so do villa, if we loose against arsenal and they win (which will probably happen) we will be on the same points but their goal difference is better. we will have to beat newcastle and hope they drop points. they are in top position because we could'nt beat fulham, birminghan etc.

if we're all honest about this then on their 1st 1/2 performnce villa didn't deserve to lose, i don't think it's that we didn't turn up, they were way better than us.
on our 2nd 1/2 performance , we didn't deserve to lose either, so all in all a fair result.
dont get me wrong it's obviously not the result i wanted but all in all a fair one, neither team can complain that they should've won because over the 90 they were pretty equal.
that's not taking into account the penalty decision though, so you could argue that we shouldve won.

Got to admit I was gutted after the match but on reflection I don't think that was too bad. We played really well second half, and against an in form Villa a point is probably a decent result.

Sure, it's going to be tough against the Arse next week, but I wouldn't bet against us nicking a point.

COYB let's keep scrapping til the end

Great celebrations from Phil, I was made up when he scored :)

I was at a family get-together for my mum's 80th birthday and sneaked out to the pub across the road for the second half. When I went back I was punching the air as if we'd won. Am I the only person who thinks that - given the recent form of both teams - that a draw was a good result?

I think so - i wouldve taken it before the game

However i think most people are upset because we wouldve basically have 5th sorted if we had won this, and not let it go at the end.

I wasnt that bothered after the match, normally its a depressing walk away from goodison after we lose...but not tonight - good result

I'll throw my two pence in.

Nearly gave me a [Poor language removed] heartattack the game. Started well, lost it a little when the 1st half finished. 2nd half we got the ball down and passed it and showed some of the form for ealier in the season.

But....Moyes made a terrible choice taking Manny off for Arteta. We were being bossed in the middle of the park and Arteta clearly didnt look fit when he came on. I agree with others when he should've game on for AJ (who worked his bollocks off and got nothing back from our midfield) and bolster the midfield. We were 2-1 up and all we needed was to keep possesion.

I blame Arteta for the goal myself. He completely left Barry the space in the world to get that cross in. Neville was trying to keep in with the back line and it was too late when he stepped out to challenge Barry. Arteta just stood off. He's not fit and instead of letting Manny get more into the game at a crucial part he subbed him off.

Anyone else think Manny would've actually hit the target with the last minute freekick Arteta had?

Anyway, I said it'd be a draw but its just disappointing that we could've actually won if it hadnt have been some lacks defending (they only had 3 shots on target).

Loved Neville scoring though, made my day:D

Moyes baffled me today.

442 and have a midfielder man marking their striker. Leaving a midfield of Pienaar, Fernandes and Osman to be bullied of the park.

And
“We could have had a victory. It is a great point because Aston Villa are playing well.“We lost on a set piece so I am disappointed but pleased with the aptitude of players. Villa are a big side and we knew they would cause problems with their height.
“We are in an okay position but not commanding.”
Great point at home to Aston Villa? Make of that what you will.

arteta deffo not fit.
whats his excuse with freekicks and corners though ? you don't have to be fit for those !!! his deadball delivery was [Poor language removed]...and thats putting it politely.

On another note. Faddys doing very well upfront for Birmingham. He's linking the midfield up with Forsell brilliantly. Something AJ and Yak just seem incapble of...

Don't understand why Arteta even came on, we had the lead and were looking the most likely so score again. Its almost like he brought him back from Spain so he had to play him even though we didn't need him today, why bring an unfit midfielder on for somebody who is having a good game?

We looked shagged out and are shagged out. I notice that Lescott was limping badly at the final whistle so we may find ourselves in real [Poor language removed] street before this season is over. Why he took Fernandes off staggered me and I don't like Manny. If he was hell bent on winning the game then either Pienaar or Osman should have been subbed, that move reminded me of Spurs last year, wrong substitution at the wrong time.

The biggest worry I have from this game is not so much the fact that we dropped even more points today to our nearest rivals but even worse than that we ran out of ideas and that is scary(n)(n)(n)(n)
