what a huge game...although it shouldn't be.

Aug. 18: 1-0 Loss to Reading (17th)
Oct. 7: 3-2 Loss to Newcastle (12th)
Mar. 16: 1-0 loss to Fulham (19th)

Would of, could of, should of...but it's 9 dropped points that would have us 1 clear of the RS and well clear of Portsmouth and Villa. Three draws would at least of had us 6 points clear in 5th.

This team has had a good season but it's those head shaking bad losses that make the difference between being great and being good.

I'm pretty confident we can win this game. They have obviously been playing very well recently and we will need to stop Young which will prove difficult, I just think that with Arteta and Osman back, Pienaar hopefully fully fit and Fernandes who has played better in recent weeks we will score at least twice. With these in the team we will hopefully go back to playing 4-5-1 which I feel brings about our best football. Their defence will most likely contain Zat Knight, With our better footballers in midfield he should have a hard game and hopefully Yak will get back to playing as we all know he can and get back to his goalscoring ways. And even though we haven't been playing well in recent weeks our defence has still been pretty good like it has all season.

David Moyes will be forced into a last-minute decision over whether Mikel Arteta is fit enough for Everton's crunch home clash with Aston Villa on Sunday, a game that could decide who qualifies for the UEFA Cup.

The midfielder was due back at the club's Finch Farm training complex today but at the last minute asked for an extra day of treatment in Spain.
It has left Everton boss Moyes clearly frustrated, because he had hoped that his influential playmaker could be thrown into the Villa game.
Don't know what to make of that.

But to be frank, an extra day to recuperate in Spain my arse.

Never mind, looks like he is not quiet ready to start from the beginning let him have his rest in Spain and enjoy his time with his GF let it be, he could stay on the bench as we have Osman, Pienaar and Fernandes who is fit and ready for this match.

Looks like Lawro has resume his service by predicting Villa to beat us, I know we have only beaten them once in from last 5 matches but i believe we could do it.

Can you blame him?

On currrent form, I predict that we'll lose 2-1.

If we go behind in the game then i doubt that on current form we have what it takes to comeback to take all three point, but on the flip side, if we take an early lead then i'd expect us to win the game, confidence amongst the team is seemingly that fragile at the moment.

Ye thats right, even when we were playing our best we never seemed to be able to come back from behind. I'm sure somebody could remember the last time we came from behind to win a game because I can't.

Hang on there, TX. Remember, I rely on you to call these scores correctly. Now I think you've given three different outcomes for this fixture - it's doing my head in .

Still can't see us winning this, mind...

yeah it's difficult to stay constant with this one.

previously i was going with a 1-0 win for da blues. today i awake with a sense of trepidation and after looking at those three points between fifth and sixth place.. just feel villa will be so up for it and riding the wave of their brum massacre.

we really need to tear into them from the front, keep mobile and alert in the middle and be hugely resilient in defence.

Just as we'd struggle to recover from one goal down, if we lose fifth place it'll be a massive ask to reclaim it via the arse and barcodes.

We need to have a go at them. That's the only sure way to beat em.

If we try to soak up the pressure, no matter how heroic Howard and the defence may be, we will end up conceding at least one.

Have a go from them at the start, keep isolating Knight and test Carson from early on.

Carson has been terrible for Villa recently, so we should definately try to expliot that, and I would hope Manny would not shy away from having shots on goal. Carson has conceded a fair few long shots by being off his line.

We can do this. In terms of defence we are way ahead of Villa. We have a super keeper in Howard, whilst they have a shaky one in Carson. We have a solid CB pairing, whilst Villa have Knight as CB. I saw the highlights of the 6-0 drubbing Villa dished out to Derby, among which was Knight getting nutmegged so easily by Ghaly. Why shouldn't we do the same? The likes of Yakubu and Manny should easily beat Knight at will, and if we put Carson pressure, he will fold like a pack of cards.

What's with all the negativity? We can win this, and even if we don't and draw or lose, I would love to see a battling performance by the team, and see them get back to their attacking ways. What better way to restore confidence to our frontmen than facing one of the worst keepers(Carson) and defenders(Knight) in the league?(y)
