2013-14 comeback when you've won the title....but not the worst I've ever seen

It's all about opinions, I know, but my favourite of the Kendall era is the 85-86 side, which won nothing. Desperately unlucky, that's all.

I won't try and compare any of them to the 1962/63 team, too much of a time gap, but geez, they were bloody good.

You may be right about 85-86, the pity was, We (Kendall) struggled for 5 or 6 game trying to find the right blend to get the best out of Lineker, the Derby game we managed to just lose 2-3 came a few weeks too early... those points were the difference between 2nd and 1st... an History changer

I loved the 1969/70 team. The season was almost perfect. But it was a one season wonder and was woeful in 1970/71.

I think that's a wee bit harsh, Jeff.

That team peaked in 1970, but it had been doing well for three or four seasons beforehand.

A good number of them had won the Cup in '66 and most of them played in the '68 final and the '69 semi final when we unluckily lost to Man. City.

They were building toward their peak.

You are spot on about the following season...it was poor in the league.

Yet...for all that we threw away a winning position in the Cup semi final and were unlucky to exit the European Cup at the quarter final stage.

The season after that was worse than dreadful as not only was the team poor, but Catterick inexplicably sold the heart of that once great side to Arsenal.

It is a mystery why that 1970 side went to pot so quickly.

It had a great mix of youth and experience and looked set to kick on.

But alas...

Yes, I had it in mind that the team was largely the one that had been so good in the few years before, but I just wanted to make the point
that it collapsed so quickly after reaching its peak, whereas the team Kendall built would probably have carried on competing at the top if, for
example, we'd kept players like Lineker, Steven and Stevens at the club.
