Everton accounts discussion and ownership

One point Matt, Hetty is only a 6 mill player, he is not a 15 mill player until we sell him for that. So all the time we keep him his value remains as when he was signed. Bearing in mind when it gets near the end of his contract matters can change dramatically.

As far as the playing side goes, I agree with Neiler and your self that now is not the time to be spending but to make way for those players mentioned to come happen the wage bill should be lightened by selling for example Yobo.

Well said. Ok, so we haven't got the fanbase of United, Liverpool or even Spurs, so we're not going to be as commercially attractive to investors and we're not going to generate as much income from tickets and merchandising, but we have managed our finances sensibly and looked to expand wherever possible, such as into the Thai market.

I've said before that our solid foundations and shrewd management will see us continue to progress on an upwards curve, whilst clubs like United and Liverpool are not as strong as they were a couple of years ago. There's no reason why we can't seriously compete for a Champion's League place on a regular basis. If a run in that tournament is worth £25m and we're £36m in debt....you do the maths.

Until we can resolve the ground issue we will be treading water to a degree. By responsibly managing debts, achieving results on the pitch and nurturing the youth system we're accomplishing far more than could be expected of a club of our current stature.

Again almost completely agree, except for the emboldened bit. Everton's fanbase is sizable. 120000 applications for ELIGIBLE (i.e. ST, supporters clubs, ticket purchasing or family members) supporters to get an FA Cup final ticket.

Between quarter of a million and half a million fans in the northwest, million world wide... think its sizable enough.

Commercial revenue we SHOULD and COULD be doing more. But this builds up slowly year to year as the club's "attractiveness" to commercial partners increases.

Its defo the weakest part of our revenue and must be addressed.

Well BK has more or less admitted that running a business is not his forte and that is what Everton is. So it comes down to the likes of Elstone and how good is he?

I'd already say - better than WYNESS.

Elstone got rid of that god damn awful JJB contract.

The first year of the Kitbag deal and where he's completely given away ALL revenue for fixed fee, or if its part fixed fee part revenue based... that is going to be interesting.

But also all the other sides.

Wyness. Completely inept commercially.

Old Trafford, seats 76000 - '£2 point how much' million per game?
Emirates, seats 60000 - whats the stat, they make more money from selling the corporate band of seats than they do from selling every other seat in the house?

Would you like a minute to think about it mate :)

The commercial revenue and the what you've described are what I'm talking about, or a part of it.

Because they overlap, especially if you've got multiple commercial partners using the Arsenal example.

Ive always put a lot of our merchadiseing lack of success down to the fact we are in close proximity to Norway.

Will be intresting to see how City if they take of like Chelsea will deal with being so close to Man U from a merchandiseing point of view.

See Madrid - Real. Galacticos signings that do nothing. Already had a dose.

Real Madrid have said shirt sales featuring the name and number of world record signing Cristiano Ronaldo have already surpassed the initial £80 million it took to sign him from Manchester United.

Ronaldo's switch from the Premier League to La Liga broke all records for a single player transfer when Real splashed out the single fee, without clauses or additional payments, last summer.

However, the Spanish club have claimed sales of branded shirts and other 'Ronaldo memorabilia' have already seen them recoup a substantial amount of the 25-year-old's transfer fee.

According to the latest figures, more than 1.2 million shirts with 'Ronaldo 9' on the back have been sold in the Spanish capital alone, with millions more thought to have been bought up elsewhere around Spain and across the world.

The income of around £100 million has not all gone towards paying back the outlay for the player's services due to production and marketing costs and payments to kit manufacturer Adidas and Ronaldo himself.

But experts are predicting throughout the player's six-year contract he will more than make up for his market value in merchandising alone - regardless of his performances on the pitch.

Past Real Madrid shirt sales have been boosted by marquee signings such as Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, and Luis Figo, although Ronaldo marketability is said to outweigh all of his predecessors.

A record 80,000 people packed the Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid to see him unveiled to the fans for the first time - demonstrating his immense popularity among Los Merengues.

And that has translated to what on the pitch?
Once in the business of marquee signings, how does a club break out of that system?
Also, if one player in the dressing room is payed so much attention and cash, how do the rest of the side feel? Team spirit remember.
All a none entity anyway as clubs in Britain do not get the fee structure of shirt selling that Spanish clubs do.
(PS he has been poor!)

I'd agree with Neiler from the standpoint that we're in pretty good shape player wise right now.

I think just adding Donovan and one other player would be all we'd need to spend for the summer.

But there are certainly some other clubs who may not be in pickle now but they will be soon enough.

Thanks Matt.....I think......if we all try hard enough....we can think of a million reasons why Everton are the financial success that every club should follow....come on children....you've just got to wish hard enough....everyone believes in miracles.

Fate steps in and sees you through

Your dreams come true"
