Everton Agree Fee With Man Utd For Lukaku

How do you get to £120m if you keep saying we've only definitely got £75m for Rom? Then £10m for Geri and £8m for Cleverley. That makes £93m
I'm not saying that. I'm saying we got £90M in dribs and drabs...maybe.

Can't get my head around anybody moaning about this deal at all.

If you are actually cynically debating that the club have ballsed up in securing a 100m deal for a player they purchased for 28m, then you have really lost a grasp on reality.

Edit: so well done to the club and the manager at the time in signing him originally and showing faith in him - it's a massive day for Everton football club and lets now watch with excitement as the money is invested back into improving the team further.

100%... whatever Martinez did wrong.. he pulled off a massive coup by getting Lukaku into Goodison! Paid off in both goals and now serious cash! Of course we wanted him to stay but Everton did well considering the player publicly had sold himself already.

On my phone mate ,
with that bloody spelling thing on , to early for the ale .
Not that it makes much different with my spelling or grammar as I am word dyslexic .
Just go with the general jist of what i am trying to say as most do it, or skip my posts if it bothering you .
Not at all my friend. Always enjoy reading your thoughts.

We'll sign more players, Lukaku is more clinical than Zlatan who took alot of chances to score

I expect james to come soon and rumours to julian brandt/Eric dier.

As a matter of interest how many times have you watched Lukaku. Up to about 48 hours ago Utd supporters believed he was Chelsea bound and were pointing out the flaws in his game...correctly so.
Now we have to read that he was the primary target and better than Ibrahimovic , whenLukaku was playing with us I don't think we even believed that.

We have been watching Lukaku for the last three years, maybe you might remember his performance in the cup semi final last year and the chances missed, you will see more of that than you think.

Yes, he can be a great player on his day, but very often he doesn't want to know and just strolls around the park. It amazes me that Mourinho has gone back in for him after what he has previously said after he left Chelsea , but after not being able to get Morata then he is a good second choice.
Yes, I think he will score quite a number of goals, I think he will probably score less than this year because the team will not be built around him but strangely I think may not be the guaranteed success you seem to believe he will be

£90m + Rooney (if we're looking at it that way) is fantastic money. It's a world record deal.

It's £75m in all. If Lukaku had gone to Chelsea we'd have still got Rooney for free. We haven't got £90m for him. In 5 years we may get say £90m, but not now.

I think £75m is realistic, no one would pay above that.

Don´t think he´ll flop though. He´ll get them 30 a season for the next 5 years probably and then go to the like of PSG or Juventus. Don´t understand why everyone thinks he´ll be unsuccessful.

Pogba on the other hand will be back in Italy before long. The most overrated footballer I ever saw.
Not a chance.
Mourinho has always had good strikers in his team... how many have scored thirty ?

I'm not saying that. I'm saying we got £90M in dribs and drabs...maybe.
Even with £90m it only makes £108m but whatever.

But which is it? You can't keep saying we've been mugged off as we may only get £75m for him (which you've basically just said again) but then praise Martinez for having bought someone we've just sold for £90m.

He's this season's hot property attacking wise and we really should have had a straight £90M deal in place. Just wait and see the prices now paid for lesser talent in the next few weeks.

Mark my words, when the window closes this £75M upfront will look like an utter mugging. We needed a stronger nerve and better negotiating skills. Some will say the whole package is greater than the sum of the parts, but we'll have to hang on and see whether that will be the case now. It depends now on United being successful again and Rooney being a successful returnee. We should never have been in this position. Lukaku was absolute platinum in this market and we just sold him for the price of silver..

You could be right mate. In fact I think you will be right, in that some deals are going to be insane, especially as the window goes on. Neymar for 130 million for example.

As people have said though, Lukaku is a fantastic goalscorer but there are still question marks about his first touch and ability to deliver in big games. I'm not sure he's seen as the "hot property" in the way Harry Kane is. Maybe that's perception and the influence of the London media, or maybe Kane is just better, I am not sure. I don't think people widely give Lukaku's goalscoring enough respect though, and lots of people are doubtful about the 75 million.

It's funny, I remember many feeling similar when Lescott went for 24 million. Lots of questions raised but hindsight showed it was a decent deal. I think we will see this as an overall good deal in what will be a very erratic market.

Maybe we could have got more though, maybe Chelsea or United would have panicked as the window dragged on. The risk is, maybe Lukaku would have thrown a tantrum had we not let him go and we could do without the dilemma. We will probably only know in 6 weeks and alternatively in 6 years where this fee fits!

The £90m is just to appease people, it's £75m really. If someone asks you your yearly salary you don't tell them a total with what you could earn if you hit targets and bonuses and all that jazz.

I'm happy to get it all over with, it would have a negative effect letting it run through the summer, I'm more disappointed with the way it's been handled and lack of news from Everton. The whole thing has been played through United and Sky sources which turns were spot on from Thursday and made us look small time in my opinion.

We have Phil Neville tweeting pics and Rom and Pogba announcing it and not a word from Everton.
Same old same old mate.

It just highlights where power resides when we have to do business with the elite: they run 'kin rings round us both in terms of media stuff and final price and conditions of sale.

Make no mistake, we've come up short here...I wouldn't say rinsed . but we have been outmanoeuvred by United.
