Everton Agree Fee With Man Utd For Lukaku

Lol, posting a few photos together on Instagram doesn't imply that they are acting that way. Maybe Zidane or any other player from the past would have done the same if they played in modern internet social-networking time.

I really, really doubt it.

rooney is definitely part of this deal

theres no way united would pay him off to let him go on a free. they may as well keep him and pay his wages, it would cost them exactly the same and they'd still have the player to call on

we (or lukakus fee) will be covering rooneys release. shame

Sign of the times unfortunately.

30 years ago, a club's revenue came from gate receipts. Then came TV deals, shirt sponsorship, SKY...

Nowadays a club's target audience reaches way beyond the 40'000 who come through the turnstiles. They are vastly outnumbered by kids worldwide brought up on FIFA video games. Those kids choose their teams based on sh1t like those instagram videos. Like it or not, that bollox can turn your club into a global brand.

*does the dab*

Sky reporter at Carrington confirming the deal is worth 100m in total.

If you are still moaning there is no hope for you.

I agree that the fee is acceptable. But I don't think being unhappy with this deal is all about the fee. This transfer window there's been a propensity to salute every single deal we've done, both ins and outs, and to be fair we have done some good business. But some of the championing of Rooney's return (not specifically this forum, but here and other social media) is ridiculous. It's like some people haven't seen him play these last few years. We've just lost our best player. One of hottest attacking prospects in world football. Criticise him all you want, over ability and attitude, but for many of our fans including myself he's the best striker we've had in our lifetime. Currently our striking options are Sandro who has potential and deserves time to settle, and (soon) an ageing and heavily fading Wayne Rooney. The fee for Lukaku is more than enough to reinvest and there's some good options out there for us so hopefully we get his replacement right. Because what we have right now won't cut it. And that's why people are allowed to moan.

This is getting boring, get rid asap and we get on with our rebuilding.

Must admit I am looking forward to our marquee signing!! And before the grammar Police jump on me (you know who you are ) I mean marquee as
in superstar signing, not marquee as in a garden party .......

Not necessarily.

You don't want a club captain moping around;

You have to be blind, or stupid to believe that the reports about Rooney not being part of the deal are true.

We have got £75m/£100m for a player who has never wanted to be here, belittled us at every opportunity when away from the club and behaves like a childish clown when on his downtime.

He has scored goals for us. Nothing more.

I have absolutely no affection for the big lump whatsoever. Glad to see him out of the club. The club will benefit in the long term without his undermining sarcasm.
sums up my feelings exactly. its all about how we invest the money in the squad

I meant hot property in the that he was the one on the move this summer.

I'm not sure it's an erratic market. It's one headed only i one steady direction: upward. From summer to summer it's getting more and more inflated.

I'd have accepted close on £75M for Lukaku last season, maybe a bit less. But after this season his fee should have been through the roof without clauses.

He's not the complete player, but he's PL tried and tested. If he gets 20-25 goals for United this season he'll have paid for himself straight away.

I'm sure no-one was gonna match our valuation of him especially with him gobbing off that he was never gonna sign the new contract and playing for us was no longer gonna be an option. That just encouraged the low offers. Yes we could of held out and hopefully someone might have paid what we wanted, but then again they may not have.
We could have then kept him for another season and then have sold him for less next summer. The problem with all this speculation is without a time machine no one will know what would have happened. He could have downed tools next season (however unlikely) and cost us in that way.
I just don't understand the opinion of this being a total disaster and we've been mugged off without knowing what's gonna happen in the future. Try giving it till the end of the season and then maybe crow ' I told u so' to your hearts content.

but would he not be moping round here? I cant see him being able to play twice a week, and I don't see him being first choice in the number 10 role?

Mate, he will stroll into our side based on Koeman and Walsh the other month and the record wage we will be paying him.

Record earner, most we've ever paid anyone. He will play.
