Everton Agree Fee With Man Utd For Lukaku

Flop? He was 18 when he originally left on loan and I'm pretty sure Chelsea were happy for him to stay but he insisted on a permanent move because Costa signed.

When we signed him he had scored 16 and 17 goals in two seasons in the PL from the ages 18 to 20 and was Belgium's number one striker. We were getting a 20 year old, very highly-rated, proven PL striker with international experience, enormous potential and who was getting better year on year and crucially was extremely ambitious and driven to play at the top level. So the type of player we usually had zero chance of signing in that pre-moshiri era. We also hadn't had a decent striker in what felt like a millennium, excluding yakubu's first season.

There was no chance we were getting that for 15-20m.

Most exciting signing this millennium for sure. It was clearly a great signing based on all of the stats you mentioned, and to be fair, he lived up the potential.

It's proper embarrassing the way everyone's decided he's crap now. In February when it looked like he was signing a new contract I bet you were all calling him world class.
I don't think it's true that "everyone's" deciding he's crap. I have repeatedly stated that he was a fabulous finisher and I'm not the only one on here who's said this.
Having said that, his public utterances need to be curbed; at the very minimum, he lacks tact.

Nah, I'll bet that in February the "Lukaku is god" people would have been posting the most, yet now the "Lukaku is cr@p"people are posting more.

Different cohort, different noise
