Everton Agree Fee With Man Utd For Lukaku

Serious games are afoot, and so they should be given the money involved. Squeeze the pennies out of them Everton. Very pleased this isn't going to drag on, get him sold early and replaced early.

The problem we face is that strikers are the most prized players and the most difficult to sign as soon as they become anyway established.

We can all list half a dozen strikers that we would like to sign and would probably be very good for us but at the moment they simply won't come.

They are being courted by clubs as big as us, offering the same or more money and probably offering CL.
We are building and gaining in reputation but we are not yet at the stage of being able to attract the big names.

If the current project continues as it is then very shortly that will change.

For a long time we could not compete over finances, that seems less of a problem now but we need to be in or at least closely contesting CL spots for a few years to be considered as a destination worth going to.

Going to put it this way for the sake of an Argument Costa stays at Chelsea and Lukaku goes:

Manchester City - Aguero 20+ goals a season

Chelsea - Costa 20+ a season

United - Lukaku 20+

Spurs - Kane 20+

Arsenal - Sanchez 20+

Liverpool - None due to the fact Sturridge is never fit

That's what we are competing with lads sorry Giroud and Rooney won't cut it.

It's all well and good saying we can replace his goals with a greater spread but that is just to stay where we are, we need someone to score his goals AND a far greater contribution from midfield to improve, surely?

£75m is fair price, £100m is taking the piss
From the buyers' perspective, maybe.

Everton, however, are selling in this situation.

£75m PLUS write off everything we still owe for Schneiderlin PLUS give us Martial on a two year loan with UTD paying 50% of his wage - That's more like it. They won't agree, but equally we shouldn't be agreeing to £75m plus add-ons.

Whatever happens regarding this transfer we should all remember that for two awful seasons under Martinez Rom's goals kept us in the Prem. For that alone, he deserves our thanks.
