Seen an interesting debate in another thread about this topic. My view is that they do not go together but I respect some of you may hold some strong views otherwise.
I made this civil thread to help maintain the peace as per Moderator request.
Sectarianism is still a problem in Scotland. It's a lot better than it used to be, and I'm confident it will only get better as more and more young folk realise how ridiculous it is, but I believe currently there are more orange order marches in Strathclyde than there are in the North of Ireland
I have no interest in any religion myself, though I respect everyone's right to believe in whatever they choose. I believe sectarianism is being anti another religion. I have no interest in, or dislike of, or any religion. I only dislike people who are bigots, particularly anti-Catholic ones.
However what is banter or slagging off (whichever you prefer) between supporters of two rival clubs has somehow been marked down as sectarianism by some people on this forum.
On the Nathan Patterson thread I was accused of sectarianism in January, and again earlier this evening. Each time I have asked for evidence of even one post I have made that could even remotely be described as sectarian to be posted, and I would delete it, and apologise to the other posters on here. So far, I haven't seen one post made.
Not only have I not made any sectarian posts in the time I've been on here, I don't remember seeing any from any Rangers fans on here either.
I was accused of being involved in a hundred year sectarian war, or something like that, on the Nathan Patterson thread but I think that was from another Everton fan who somehow saw my single post wondering what Patterson had done in the last 6 months for his value to double, and became enraged and somehow saw the result of a hundred year sectarian war.
