Everton appoint Lee Sargeson as manager of scouting

Seems like a bit of a promotion gone from Senior Scouting Manager to Manager of Scouting operations.

Do we know the spec of the role or remit? Do we know what influence he had at Brighton, i noticed at the time that Potter brought a lot of the scouting backroom team with him to Chelsea, seems this guy may have been one of many as opposed to thinking we are defo just going to recruit like Brighton now.

Not minimising the lad at all, but prob good just to have realistic expectations.

I dont even know what a scouting head of operation does, is it analytics, is it watching games, is it shortlisting recruitment or is it just telling scouts where to go on a Tues night.

His remit is too improve our transfer setup according to something I was reading. I'm hoping he comes in and puts together some sort of plan for recruiting, either based on what he knows from the Brighton setup which is heavily analytics based and is high risk but often with high reward or comes up with his own strategy of sorts.

Their transfer success is very much stats / data driven from their owners betting data afaik.
Similar to Brentford.
No doubt whoever was left of their back room after Potter left are competent but I guess we’ll soon find out how much was having and eye for it and how much was exclusive access to data and algorithms.
I doubt we are getting some sort of transfer / youth team guru.
