Everton Boost Commercial Team With Three Appointments

Hopefully this means we're going to build up the club infrastructure in order to take in-house some of the items we've previously outsourced (i.e. Kitbag & concessions).

I'm sure we could get more money from our shirt sponsorship as well. I kinda like Chang and I'm used to having it on the shirt but I can't imagine they're paying us a lot for that.

At the very least these guys should have some new ideas. The status quo simply hasn't been working.

Jesus, people moan look feck that our commercial department isn't good enough and then the same ones moan when the club appoints people to add to its commercial department...

Quote from one of them in the Echo:

“Everton is unique in that it’s a huge club with a dedicated and loyal fanbase not only locally but nationally and internationally."

How does that make Everton 'unique'?

The utter tripe these people come out with.

Whilst it would be churlish not to welcome these new appointments there's nothing in their job descriptions that suggests any change in Everton's commercial strategy.

It seems to me that the existing outsourcing relationships will continue for some time to come. The club appear to want to strengthen those relationships not explore alternatives.

Having said that I wish them luck and much success although my expectations are not high.

Wouldnt do them any harm to take a peek on here to see some of the brilliant ideas that have been made. The whole US/Ordinary Joe Club thing for one example.

Incidently, made by Merican blues. Just saying.

It's strange actually. I'd have thought the CEO would have had a big part to play in bringing these people in, and yet he's the one in the recent past whose doubted the scope for match day revenue beyond where it's at now, and that existing commercial deals are pushing the envelope already for a club of Everton's stature.

*scratches head*

I fully agree.

agree with The Esk.

at least based on a read over, improving the existing rather than branching out or exploring new options, like trying to expand the brand globally.

Because they amount to the same thing with this lot in charge: no substantial change.

They cant be game changers unless they've been brought in to sell the club to some other party. And we know that wont be the case. They are the next batch of flunkies and yes men to try their hand at plaiting sawdust.
I agree with you here Dave, there is nothing in the press release that speaks to our commercial division pursuing new streams of revenue. It looks as if it is about maintaining status quo with the existing partnerships and pursuing renewals.

When I initially saw the headline I assumed this would involve us hiring people with the expertise to allow us to enter and capitalize in the markets such as Asia and North America to build our commercial brand.

It absolutely does my head in that more people (plastics) now know who Manchester City are than Everton where I live.
