Everton Brands Appointment Confirmed

Richarlison is a Silva signing. Obviously.
Bernard - jury still out. I dont think he looks clinical at all. I'm rooting for him though.
Zouma = barely an upgrade on Jagielka.
Gomes - way too early to see what he brings.
Mina we have no idea.

So, in conclusion, for most of his signings, it's still too early to tell. If it's too early to tell, why are you making the argument that he has signed no one who has improved the squad?

As for Zouma, he's a vastly superior defender to Jagielka. Jagielka was good in his day, but he's an absolute liability whenever he plays now and he shouldn't be in the squad. Zouma has looked solid and composed.

Jags is a legend at this club. Mirallas, despite being out of favour these days has certainly contributed to good times in the past.

There is no room for nostalgia in this game. Both are past it, and if you would rather see those 2 names on the team sheet rather than the lads who are playing at the moment, you're crazy.

It was as urgent, for sure.

Brands didn't see it. That's a legitimate criticism.

I dunno mate, LB and CB were the higher priorities for me.

Richarlison we can ignore as like you say Silva wanted him.

With Bernard it was just one of those that came up out of nowhere so they went for it, a no brainer to add a CL level player to add some creativity if he's available on a free.

The only other thing I could say is probably a striker was a bigger priority than a new CM so maybe you could feel aggrieved we pursued Gomes when we should have been hunting for a striker.

Ultimately though, I think Tosun has been given the same sort of pass for the time being. He was a ~30 mil signing who got 5 in 12 so I think it literally was just a case of let's see how he is after a full preseason under a new manager who wants us to play actual football.

I think come January there'll be an assessment of how much Tosun has found the net, but even then we found last year getting in a top striker in January is difficult. I imagine we're just gonna persist with sharing the goals throughout the front 4 and get a new striker in next summer.

CM just as big as of priority as anywhere IMO (was, clearly Gomes has started off extremely positive).

It will be very tough to get a top striker in during the January window and not have to pay mega money. I wouldn’t be too surprised to maybe see a loan of an out of favour striker and little else striker wise.

As other have said, our aging back line and lack of pace and creativity were the biggest issues that needed fixing over the summer as we do have goals in us, but we will need more and I expect a top, first choice forward to b signed next summer

The most crucial position on the pitch should have been prioritised in the summer just gone.

It was, the central defence was a mess, as was the situation at left back, or have you forgotten about Martina.

The defence was much more of a concern than the forwards.

Last season we leaked goals like a sieve.

This has been addressed and I fully expect the striker issue to be a top priority for Brands if not in this window, the next.

He can only do so much Dave lol

Isn’t it funny how @davek said for a while now, that jags and baines were revolting against managers, and that if baines is our LB then the season I over before it’s started and jags should have gone 2 years ago? Then we sign players , top quality ones to, that replace them , then he says we needed to buy a striker first lol

His " flip flopping " today, has been first class.

He`d make a great politician lol

Then they failed to do so, and that's even worse.

I do not agree Dave that there has been a failure, what evidence do you have? For me there might have been attempts but the fee wanted and wages wanted may well have been OTT. Do not think there should be blind condemnation with out facts to support the assumption.
