Everton Brands Appointment Confirmed

Dave we needed
2 CB
A LB
2 Wingers
A box to box midfielder
A Back up goalkeeper
A top quality CF
Brands / Silva obviously set out their priorities and got most if not all that was required
It’s fairly obvious that the carpetbagger wouldn’t give them the money to get everything on their wish list and that’s not their fault
I’m sure if the Iranian fraud had given them another 50/60 m on top of the 80/90 they spent ruining the transfer market they would have got a CF
We needed an attacker. Who couldn't appreciate that? Tosun was the answer? Is that what he thought?

FFS.

We needed a lot more than an attacker though Dave
You said yourself we needed to replace Baines and Jags and get rid of the deadwood
Where would you have saved the 45/50 m needed to but a decent CF
Not buy Digne and Mina
Not buy Ricarlison and Virginia
It’s not a bottomless pit and I’m sure priorities were decided on

CM just as big as of priority as anywhere IMO (was, clearly Gomes has started off extremely positive).

I get that, we lacked quality in there but we had a lot of CMs, I would have been willing to go until at least January with what we had if we had to but obviously I’m happy we got Gomes. If he keeps going like he has then he’ll be invaluable to us in no time.

I think they knew we hadn’t got the cash to do it all in one window so when loans for Zouma and Gomes came up and Bernard on a free they took them up
I’d be fairly certain Silva/Brands know we need a CF but it not a bottomless pit of money , yet

Not sure where the flip flopping comes in, tbh. We needed CBs? Yes. We needed an attacker to lead the line and get a lot of goals? Yes. However only one area was given serious attnetion.

That's incompetence....or maybe you and others think Silva preferred to go into the season with a load of tat up front and needing to start his wide left player as the main attacking outlet?
;) Don't ever change.

Well I’d rather have Tosun at CF than
Jags at CB
Baines at LB
Mirallas on the wing
Morgan in the middle
Bolassie falling over
Besic in the treatment room
Martina anywhere on the pitch
Priorities were decided and decisions were made

If we're left to play a winger in attack then that's failure. He had enough run up to the summer and appraisal time on players. He believed Tosun was going to do a job.

That to me is a gross miscalculation that I dont think a DoF can make without criticism.

Just because a new striker wasn't brought in that doesn't mean that the need for one wasn't identified. There's a hell of a lot more to a transfer than identifying a position that needs strengthening.

Believing that it may be worth persevering with a striker who scored just over 1 in 3 in his first half season in a struggling, negative and frankly poor PL team isn't a gross miscalculation. I'd imagine the manager is in regular contact with Brands and he may well have been perfectly happy with Tosun and preferred to strengthen other parts of the side as a priority. Maybe there was even talk of their preferred target being available in the Jan window or next summer and a waiting game for the right man was decided upon.

I don't know as I'm not in possession of the facts....are you?

Dave doesn’t worry about facts if they don’t suit the agenda

No is arguing though that he's done nothing to improve matters. That will have to be determined in terms of how well he has done over time. The attacking ommission was major though.

I am. I just dont believe in kissing arse and ignoring glaring errors.

Well, we can use whatever terminology you like, but none of it masks the fact that we are now forced to play Richarlison in an out and out attacking role that hardly suits him - a non-specialist to fulfil the tasks of that position - we also lose a potent threat out wide left where he should be.
