"Everton can win the Premier League"

Ok picture this: you have grabbed with both hands the 4th spot offer. Now, Utd who finish say 6th win this season's CL...and we miss out on the CL.
Summary: you might look like an idiot

Or Spurs or Wigan could Win Europa, meaning they go into CL with the new rules in place

Winner will have 6-8 losses so why not win the league.

Problem is, 4th place will only have around 6-8 losses as well.

It's a difficult one to know if this thread is wildly off-base.

Obviously we technically can win the league from here, but there's a few ominous signs. We haven't looked great in our last two games, BUT we've shown the kind of stuff that champions show - win when you're playing poorly.

But we can't rely on it. I'm a bit concerned by Lukaku who looks off the pace, and the squad depth is minimal. An injury to Coleman and we're screwed on the right. An injury to Jagielka and we're probably screwed in defence. If Barry or McCarthy pick up knocks then our midfield disintegrates on the spot.

I think we'll challenge for the top four this season for sure, but for obvious reasons we're lacking the credibility to maintain a title charge. But the very fact we're even discussing this as a remote possibility shows the progress we're making.

2nd paragraph mate absolutely spot on. To be even talking about it is a great ****ing buzz at the moment. Come what may, the lads have put a superb effort in so far, we just haven't slipped away like most would have probably thought ( meaning pundits/opposing fans etc ).

And, unfortunately, a small but vocal bunch of gloom mongers here on GOT.

Our current record after 17 games: Won 9 Drawn 7 Lost 1 / For 29 Against 16 / 34 points. GD +13

Last 2 times we won the league, after 17 games:

1986/87: Won 8 Drawn 5 Lost 4 / For 27 Against 18 / 29 points. GD +9
1984/85: Won 10 Drawn 3 Lost 4 / For 35 Against 23 / 33 points. GD +12

So there you go - we have more points at this stage (after 17 games), have lost less games, conceded less goals, and have a better goal difference, than we did the last 2 times we won the league.

cracking post.

And now you're gonna believe us.......

Something very important to bear in mind is that we've only lost ONE game so far.

The statistics say that to win the league you cannot Lose more than 5 games in a season, no matter how many goals you are putting past weaker opponents of a weekly basis. The next best teams have already lost 3 games, and with the big head-2-heads coming up, they should be adding more to that losses column. By adopting passing and moving, and attacking football, Martinez has made us the toughest team to beat in Europe on current form.

If we can keep that form, the statistics say that we will right up there at the end. Right up there.

I'm not one for silly optimism mate, never have been (far too old now for all that), but theirs just something special about this season, take the last two games, both times we conceded a equalizer, and i will be honest, i just felt oh **** thats it, lucky to get a point now, only difference is compared to recent memory, the team actually didn't think that, they got pissed off, and said 'actually nah we want the 3 and were getting them', and lo and behold they did, im now starting to think that sometimes in footy theirs a hidden momentum thing and it just keeps piling on until it becomes a unstoppable force, teams WILL start to worry now when they pen us back about 'oh **** now their gonna turn it on against us' and that in itself as seen at man utd over the years is a massive factor in getting results when not playing well

Im rambling a lot here, but think in short what im trying to say is this, atm the top teams are fearing us a bit, they know they risk getting turned over and well like arsenal first half, embarrassed, this makes it actually more likely to happen as fear doesn't breed a relaxed game that most of the top teams prefer
The smaller teams are either gonna come out sitting back or if they do try have a go, then the last 20 their kinda going into a not sure what to do mode, especially when the games tied etc, allowing us to turn it on, the evidence of that is the last 2 imo, both games were the opponent kinda seemed happy with getting a point and im gonna be honest now, atm a team that does that is gonna end up losing vs us, we have too much momentum going.

I'm believing mate, I'm believing!

Seamus Coleman - highest scoring defender in Europe at the moment as well.

If our current starting eleven stays fit for the rest of the season we've got a chance of winning the title, as we can match any team on our day in that regard. But that just won't happen.
