Maybe, but Chelsea finished on 75 points. Spurs got 72, and that was only good enough for 5th. Martinez said the other week that he thought 71 would be good enough for Champions League. That may be slightly optimistic, but right now I'd say we should be aiming for something over 70.

Said recently to a mate that to win the league a team will need around 90 points. Top 4 will need at least 75. Obviously we will lose a couple of games and so I think its acceptable to say that a team for top 4 needs around 20 wins. Can we win 11 games in our remaining 21 ?

Of course this is my theory and there is many twists and turns. One thing is certain though.... as of right now, we are 2 off top of the league, are more than competing in the hardest league in the world and have put ourselves in a great position. The fact we are even talking like this is just a breath of fresh air frankly.

What a difference a few months make. Under moyes and I admit this...... I would strangely be thinking ' ok 34 points, 6 more to safety and then anything after is a bonus '. He just made me think like that
 
if we get 2 points a game from now till the end of the season we will get champions league, so far we bang on target 34 from 17

if we get 76 from 38 we will be in the champions league.

The league is much closer than normal at the top this year, so common sense dictates a massive points total won't be needed to get in the Champions League. Normally the league leaders are on 40 points or more by this stage of the season, this year it's 36 and the gap between them and fourth is tiny.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a record low points tally for the eventual winners.

If Everton keep in the mix. Anything is possible.

One game at a time. Keep defeating whats in front of us. And not give up.

That's exactly why you could well need more points to get in the CL. Fewer points for the league leaders generally means more for everyone else, so you get a tighter league and all teams on bigger totals.

You can't have all teams on bigger totals, it's impossible.

Last year at this point of the season the gap between 1st and 8th was 17 points. The season before that it was 20 points. This season ? 8 points.

2nd paragraph mate absolutely spot on. To be even talking about it is a great ****ing buzz at the moment. Come what may, the lads have put a superb effort in so far, we just haven't slipped away like most would have probably thought ( meaning pundits/opposing fans etc ).

Last paragraph, those days are long gone thank **** mate, Martinez has lit the fire in our gut to aim higher and believe.
