Everton confirm rejecting 28M for both Fellaini and baines

I should preface this post by saying I'm a United fan but I'm not trying to wind up anyone on here.

I think we'll get Fellaini in the end and probably for around £25m if we bid that high. I've been a bit put out by the way United have conducted business over the last few months. First we said that there was no budget for players and we'd go as high as we needed to. Then we bid insulting amounts for Fabregas and then Fellaini and Baines. We're penny pinching when we really shouldn't be.

It's obvious that Moyes and our board thought they could get Fellaini for less than his release clause which is why we didn't bid for him until after it expired. We dropped a bollock with that £28m joint bid. I've seen fellow United fans argue that it's only an opening bid so it's alright to lowball the offer. But £28m is so below their value that it really can't be seen as anything other than a piss take. I think an chance of getting Fellaini for below his buyout clause evaporated with that bid and the subsequent comments from Moyes.

As a United fan it's just so out of character for the club. Over the last few years we tried to get deals done in private but now we're broadcasting ourselves to the world and it's just embarrassing for all parties involved.

Like I said though. I think we'll get Fellaini if we bid high enough. I'm slighty concerned that we won't though. We've been all talk but no action this summer. Makes you wonder how much money we actually have to spend. Don't think you'll sell Baines to us. Our valuations are too far apart.

Now would be a good time for Bill to find the record amounts we have recieved from the new television deals, so we dont need to sell anybody. Its got 'deadline day fiasco' written all over it at the minute.

I think 40 million for the pair is just about right, 25 Fellaini and 15 Baines. Do you sell and try and improve the team with the money?

Risky, very risky but as Del boy used to say, he who dares..

Do you's really need banies?

They've got Evra. What would you do if you were in the hot seat at Old Trafford?

Of course they need Baines. He's the best LB in the prem. Problem is, he's worth more to us than he is to them because we would need to replace Baines with the money and the only player available for that is Shaw from Southampton, who will cost more because he's younger.

The ultimate conclusion is that Utd will refuse to pay more than about £14m for Baines, but will end up signing Shaw for about £18m. IMHO.

I think he's the best left back in the league so I'd be delighted if we signed him. However, Evra has hit some decent form and we have a capable back-up in Fabio. Our weakest area of the pitch is midfield and Fellaini would greatly improve us in that area. If we're really struggling to sign both then I'd be alright if we dropped interest in Baines.

Good luck with that ginger **** mate.

He won loads of cups with us, so you should be ok. He'll soon be telling everyone he's bigger than Matt Busby and SAF.

What I don't understand is, you're one of the moneybags teams so why not just offer the price you need to pay? You lowballed Barca for Fabregas and you've done the same for Felli - both have plenty of time left on their contracts so you were never gonna get either on the cheap. The idea that Felli would go for LESS than his release clause fee is bonkers.

How do you feel about the fees quoted in the press for Cabaye (£20m) and Ozil (£38m) - could you see either of them helping you out?

Personally I think it's a combination of Moyes thinking any player in the world would want to play for United; and our inexperienced chief executive not willing to loosen the purse strings. Ed Woodward is a very good commercial banker. He's secured some very lucrative sponsorship deals for United but imo he isn't the right man to replace our old CEO. Gill was a banker too but he grew into the role and became a very canny operator in intra club relations. Woodward is a complete novice and doesn't know what he's doing yet. I'm certain that our public bids for Fabregas were at his direction and insistence.

I'm guessing we thought that we could get Fellaini for less than his release clause as there didn't seem to be much concrete interest from any other team. Flash the cash and pressure Everton into a deal. That obviously hasn't worked very well and we've only antagonized your club even further.

To answer your other question I wouldn't be too keen on Cabaye. We have a better midfielder in Carrick and the Frenchman doesn't offer enough of an improvement on Cleverley to warrant a £20m outlay. I'm a big fan of Ozil but we already have Kagawa and Rooney in the squad. Kagawa is a class player and Rooney can be brilliant on his day. We're well stocked for attacking midfielders. Ozil is better than both of them but we're already well capable in that area of the pitch. It's a question of priorities and strengthening central midfield is definitely more important than bringing in another Number 10.

Fellaini would solve a lot of problems for our midfield.

Our low bids are inexcusable, make no mistake United fans are frothing at mouth at the way Ed Woodward has conducted our transfer bussiness this summer making us look like amateurs. Cabaye and Ozil would be better investments than Fellaini and Baines. Yes, i'd rather both of them for the prices branded about

These United fans frothing at the mouth will have to get used to it, we didn't call him Dave the ditherer for no reason
