Everton confirm rejecting 28M for both Fellaini and baines

And club loyalty, being an Evertonian etc doesn't either? Face it, this is a test to see which manager the players will rather play for. Time for Roberto to step up! Tell United we won't be dealing with them anymore.

What does "stepping up" mean?
This has nothing to do with Martinez. He's said a hundred times he doesn't need to sell and has massaged their egos enough times in public. Baines and Felli have actually behaved well considering the gossip surrounding them - compared to Suarez. They'll still give their all for the cause.
That said, I wouldn't be that arsed about Fellaini leaving. He's looked distinctly average during preseason and against Norwich. Personally, I'd take £20 for him.
And btw, Oviedo's been fantastic in preseason. I think we sometimes overrate Baines because he's a blue and a good guy. *hides

Just to play devils advocate, could this be a masterstroke by Everton? The release of this information is not the usual way we would go about transfer dealings, we normally say nothing until the deal is done, both with outgoing and incoming deals. By releasing this story, it's almost as if we are embarrasing Utd and their strategy, with the entire media now questioning their tactics, both price wise, and morality wise. Release when it was actually bid, and how angry we are at it happeing, its kind of saying, "We aren't scared of you, pay the price, or get nothing". I personally think that their actions have strengthened our position.

IMO, they will both go, but we will get closer to £43m for them both.

I was thinking this, but they waited a few days before releasing the statement ( Maybe due to the match on Saturday ) but the spin machine from United has been quiet, unlike them.

This will get dirty now, expect a reply of sorts from United.

What we really need is for Jose to enquire about Fellani.

That would make United quickly revise their offer.

And maybe this is the thinking behind EFC going public with this story.

Stepping up means convincing the players to stay and play for him, and not go and play for Moyes.

I like Oviedo, think he's got great potential but make no mistake about what we're losing if Baines moves on. He's our best player and integral to how we play.

I'm intrigued to see the reception that Moyes gets when he comes back to Goodison.

I hope he has some ear defenders.

I think most people would say Rooney was a bit of a scumbag. Two transfer requests at united kind of sums that up. But Jagielka, Baines, Osman, Hibbert, etc have all remained very loyal.

Oh really!

So you concede there is more to these transfers than an incumbent manager using his svengali powers to keep a player?

Remind me who was manager when Rooney left?

You are talking drivel in a sly attempt to shift blame onto RM - won't wash lad.

Moyes wont be involved in the tactics of the transfer, but he has put both of their names on his list. He shouldn't have done that if he had any kind of respect for EFC. Add to that the fact he knows the inner workings of our club and knows we would have to sell and he willingly let his contract run out after being tapped up by Ferguson.

Honestly mate, Fellaini elected not to tackle leading up that first goal

It´s like Bale at Spurs, according to AvB Bale refuses to play on account he doesn´t want to risk getting injured. And this while he is contracted to Spurs and paid a salary by them.

Don't be silly. He elected not to risk giving away a free kick on the edge of his own box when there were defenders behind him and if he'd fouled him he'd have been walking a tightrope for the rest of the game.
