Everton confirm rejecting 28M for both Fellaini and baines

As of this moment it would appear that all this talk is hypothetical, when i see it reported in the metro this makes me think it even more so.
Let's not embroil ourselves in a slanging match as to what Fellaini is worth, let's look at who Martinez can bring in with £20 million + we have to spend, hypothetically speaking of course.

its pretty obvious that no one is that keen on him - not even Man Utd - hence the lowball offer. In fact I doubt if anyone at Man Utd wants him at all, bar Moyes.

I'd imagine utd fans etc were hoping for a bigger marquee signing than fellaini but truth be told, as with many other outsider's they don't know what there getting with fellaini. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the size of the opening bid as that strikes me as incompetent new chief ex coupled with a scared to say anything new boss. I think moyes will have wanted to make a signing un-Everton related before bidding on old players.

I personally think all clubs know that fellaini's price is 23.5M wether the release clause has expired or not. Letting them choose to bid or do a deal whenever they want.

Anyone else think utd are not as financially stable as they make out ?
This next week will reveal if utd are to make any big signings, without any major outgoings.(Rooney)
Have they employed Moyes as he can work on a tight budget, whilst the glazers get on with servicing their debt repayments.

Mate, you are wasting your breath. Even though it was stated last night that no new bid has been made people still insist on believing he is to be sold for £8 and we are buying Mccarthy for £3 billion.

Honestly, it's hilarious and sad watching 100's of pages of baseless, headless chicken style panic.

20m is a good price for someone not proven on the european stage. Hopefully now a deal can be reached. You can have zaha on loan too. :)

You remind me of a group of Man Utd fans that had the audacity to tell me that only League Winners or Champions league winners should be capped for England. I am afraid the Man Ure fans of today are so deluded that its easy to take the piss out of them.

Spot on.

Even if he is only worth 20 mill, the only reason we are selling him will be that RM would prefer to have McCarthy. Seems strange to swap a 20 mill player for a 15 mill player which is what Whelan will demand. In which case what can RM do with the 5 mill change if BK will let him have it that is.

One thing you can be sure of if SAF was still in charge at Man U there would not have been any inteest inFellaini. Moyes is now desperate to make a signing but IMO Fellaini hardly counts as a big name signing.

Nope, they have money. They did pay quite a bit off in the past few years. Even still, with the debt payment they pay ( Not far off our wages ) they still make a profit year on year.

No one else coming in for him has screwed us

This sums it up in a nutshell.

A footballer is only worth what another club is willing to pay for him.

The same as anything else.

If no club is prepared to pay more than £20 million for Fellani than I am afraid he is not worth more than £20 million.

So we are left to decide to take that bid or tell both Moyes and Fellani to forget about it as he is staying put.

And then the problem becomes one of us hanging on to an unhappy player......and I am now thinki9ng that Fellani wants the move.

I agree.

Moyes's parsimony was the biggest single factor in him landing that job, IMO.

20M + pipe dream add ons needing the hopeless Moyes to be successful?

Ha Ha ha Ha.

At least Dick Turpin wore a mask. And Kenwright, is this his idea of bargaining post release clause...getting less in?

Ha Ha Ha Ha.

What a complete and utter shambles.

Cheers Moyesie. We really are a special club to you aren't we.

And that is the bit which is hard to gauge. Up to now there has been no reason to think he has been actively agitating for a move but for a foreign lad who has given us decent service for 5 years it may be hard to resist, especially with agent and probably Moyes bending his ear.
Fwiw I say keep him whatever his feelings with promise we won't stand in his way next summer. To lose him now in the midst of this mini power struggle with Moyes possibly with little profit would be terrible for morale and PR. Moyes more desperate for signing than we are for money I hope so do one lad and RM then turns on the charm to squeeze an extra season out of him.

I don't understand why our fans are OK with the idea of selling Fellaini, specially with the quoted 20M (forget the add-ons, when they arrive they will be like 1M after he plays 20 games or something) we invested 17.5M in him, made him what he is today and him being 25 means he has 7-8 of his best years ahead, we wither sell with a huge profit or keep him, after all if we count his wages and bonuses and his agent fees, it will be 30M at least (transfer fees + wages + bonuses)

It's world cup year and Belgium will do very well, might well go all the way to the semi finals, he is one of their star players and with his afro, he will be one of the stars of the World cup, one of the players who will be very much talked about around the world during the world cup, do you have an idea what kind of an exposure he will give to Everton if he was still on our books?

Yet some want to sell him to sign a player from the Championship
