Everton confirm rejecting 28M for both Fellaini and baines

It's the media feeding frenzy that has been worst about this window. They get worse every time, but ths summer it's sickening the way they've been willing the "big clubs" to snap up Fellaini and Baines, as well as Real Madrid to snag Bale, Liverpool to sell the biter, hanging on Jose's every word as he signs more of Europe's young talent for Chelsea's reserves, and hanging Wenger out to dry because he's signed no one yet.

Teams like Man Utd and Arsenal are desperate. If they really want our players then the only way is overpaiding. Hence, Fellaini will cost them £25-30m at least. If not, they can koff and we keep Fellaini.

In fact, in the event we are unable to spend the money even we get £25m, Man Utd can still koff because I guess Moyes will make the offer on 1 Sep.

If Mata was worth £23m when he went to Chelsea, Fellaini ain't worth £24m.

Dzeko - 27m in 2011
Veron 28m in 2001
Berbatov 31m
Shevchenko -31m
Robinho 31m
Carroll 35m
Torres 50m
downing 20m
henderson 16m
degea 18m
jones 17m
allen 15m

those just of the top of my head, stats on transfers can be easily chosen to back any view, plus mata cost like 23m mate rising to 29m with addons

If Jordan Henderson is worth 20m in 'todays market' fellaini is certainly worth 30m.

Henderson was never worth £20m though. Dalglish told his board it was 'worth' paying that because he sold them his old-fashioned vision of a mainly British side and for some reason they were prepared to pay wayyyy over the odds for all of them, but especially the young English ones like Downing £20m, Henderson £20m and the cherry on top of Carroll £35m. They were never worth it to anyone but Dalglish and can't be used as a comparison.

Of course they can be used as comparison, as they're all examples of the selling club putting a price on the head of their player, that was beyond his true market value, but being under no pressure to sell, they could ask what they liked...

The Carroll example being the most extreme & his price was driven by the fact it was deadline day & the ****e were desperate to replace Torres.

The original comment stated "in today's market". There is no daft old Scot trying to rebuild his beloved Liverpool side in a certain style and funded by his board to pay over the odds for British players, so the comparison between Henderson's 'value' then and Fellaini's now doesn't stack up.

Mods, could you please do something about this?

I thought time after time, you said there shall be order in here.

And Brennan, this is boring just like you said you don't rate Fellaini everyday.

Put that in your pope and smoke it Brennen

Ronaldo was the best player in the world. Bale will never win that award and won't even be the third best player in Madrid, never mind Spain.

If Bale costs 90m and they recoup all of that through merch sales as well as signing a boss player, I fail to see how he's not worth it.

Is he worth 90m based on his on pitch ability alone ? Nope, but football is a business.

Your in for such a shock when we sell him for less than his release clause

The club have already said that they're not going to do that.

Now I've seen Everton do u-turns in the past - I've seen BK say he wouldn't sell Rooney for less than £50m - but a u-turn just a week or two later? Simply can't see it.
