Everton confirm rejecting 28M for both Fellaini and baines

It all depends on whether or not Martinez wants to buy players.

I don't think the current crop of midfielders move the ball fast enough for his liking, so I expect an undisclosed fee to be agreed for Fellaini in the coming days. I'd rather see him stay for another year though.

They're not though are they.

Even if he only makes half of his transfer fee over a few seasons via merch then he'll have actually cost them 45m.

I'd say he's worth 45m myself.

That assumes they'll sell a few million shirts with his name on the back, that are INCREMENTAL sales.

So is the signing of chimp head going to entice a couple of million Madrid fans to buy a shirt that they had no intention of buying until he arrived? Dream on.

Ronaldo made them well over 80 million back. It's really not fanciful to suggest Bale could shift half as much merchandise. 600k or so shirts to a team with hundreds of millions of followers, not sure how I'm 'dreaming'.

Does anyone else feel as though Everton would have a better chance of making a serious profit on Fellaini after a year of him playing in midfield?

One of the reasons I'm loathe to see him go to United is that it's Moyes' fault he's now perceived as 10 goal-a-season target man.

Overlooks the fact that last season was his best in a blue shirt.

I don't think it was. He scored more goals, but that was because he was playing up front. He's wasted when used as little more than a target man/battering ram.

His best runs of form have come in midfield. I loved watching Everton play with him and Gibson working together in early 2012.

As somebody else said, expect 'undisclosed fee'.

Am I wrong in thinking there can't be an undisclosed fee? I believe United have to present the exact fee because they are on the stockmarket.
