Everton confirm rejecting 28M for both Fellaini and baines

I don't think it is very smart to sell the most hight profile player now. With NBC picking up the broadcasting rights in the states, adding their sports channel to broadcast more games, and really pushing this product, the premiership is getting more exposure over here than ever. We get pretty regular highlights (at least of high profile matchups ) on ESPN these days...unheard of 2-3 years ago.

I suspect there is money to be made developing the fan base abroad, and losing a guy like Fellaini is not the way to do it. I saw somewhere that the most popular teams in the states are Tottenham (1) (because of Dempseys stay there, I assume) and Man U (2). I'll be honest, Fellaini and Baines are the main reason why I started following Everton. I just think he may be worth more than the transfer fee over the next few years of his contract. Very recognizable and fun as hell to watch.

That's an interesting perspective, and one I'd not really considered. Fellaini is iconic - perhaps the most recognisable player in the league for casual viewers. That's got to be good for our exposure.

Baines is the iconic one and exposure in the states is important, but not to the extent of influencing the transfer business.
"Sorry Felli, we're happy with their £26m bid and we know you want to move on, but there's loads of kids growing up in the states who may choose to support us because of your ace hair".

To be fair i think his hair adds at least a couple of million to his value.

It's a very interesting perspective and probably spot on.

Problem being, we don't seem to have the visionaries on board necessary to try and exploit this kind of revenue.

I think what he means is that United are so desperate for a big signing that they wouldn't run the risk of a leg break leaving them with sod all to sign and the window shutting.

Cleverley is ****e the most over rated player ever to play for England , in fact the only reason he plays for England....Is because he plays for man u.

Why has our club just said no to UNT? - rumours are rife evidently talks will start allegedly over fellis move to Unt after the LFC game - just be glad when this transfer window closes it a worry because at no time has BK come out of where he is hiding and just said not for sale or put a 50 million tag on them both 30 million Felli 20 million Baines! RM looked uneasy at todays match conference - it in the boards hands remember no need to sell anyone!

Not really what I was saying. My post was more about playing style and ability than his ****ing afro, what do I know? If you'd rather have some money, McCarthy and a mid-pack finish, more power to ya....but I'd rather see them keep their best players and try to compete for European play, myself.

Bill is undermining his manager over this. RM is rightly embarrassed as he's the one who's trying to answer all the media questions and he probably hasn't got a clue what Bill is up to behind his back. Hope RM has a pair of balls and says it how it is if they're sold...which they will be

He's not. He's our best player, but casual viewers couldn't pick him out.

Right. I agree Baines is probably the best..but casual viewers, especially ignorant American ones (who like or want to try watching but really don't understand or appreciate the little things at this high a level yet, and probably havent played since they were 10 years old), do NOT recognize that. They do recognize a big, fiery, bruiser whose easy to spot, can score goals and flash some ball skills. That's all I was saying.

Nope.....they aren't.

Vidic may have been a few years ago, but he is a bit past it now.

And he was no better than Jags, even when he was in his prime, IMO.

Kagwa world class?

I think it is you whom is living on a different "planet"

Especially if you think De Gea is a "world class" goalie.

I don't know if yoy reckon Evra is "world class" but if he is, his manager is desperately trying to replace him with our leFt back.

Moyes is going there on Sunday with two players whom might be described as being "world class" today.

That is the gist of my post and why Warnock so annoyed me.

Having "way better players than we do" doesn't equate to having a team full of "world class" players, which is what the bugger said.

Yeah, I agree on him implying they're all world class, that's stupid. Utd are really good but they're not like Barcelona or Real.

I would take 25 million for Fellaini now to be honest. He wants away, but please don't waste anything approaching 50% of it on Mcarthy.

Yet more baseless speculation. So many people saying this today, but where is the evidence? There isn't any.

I would have been unimpressed with £25m for Felli three weeks ago, when we could have bid for Capoue and Chadli with the proceeds; £25m now, 48 hours before the transfer deadline, would be utterly moronic. We're at the stage now where we should be rejecting anything under £40m for Felli and anything under £30m for Baines. If that means we don't sell them that's fine - just get Barry, Moses and Ba in on loan.

DM on why he has never won at anafield -thank god he has gone - what a pathetic excuse! Moyes, who takes United to Liverpool on Sunday for the first time, never won there in the league during 11 years as Everton manager. He said: "It was down to Liverpool having really good teams with people like Xabi Alonso, [Javier] Mascherano, [Fernando] Torres at his pomp, Steven Gerrard – they had really good teams at that time and were one of the teams that went on to win the European Cup. That's why it was very difficult to win regular games at Anfield because of the quality of the side they had."-

Exactly this...we should have set the price and deadline when this first raised it's ugly, ginger head..and that deadline should have passed weeks ago to allow us to either move on..or replace the players we sold..too late in the day now..ain't that right Bill?
