if we get 4th this will be huge for us. imagine, a new manager comes in and gets us 4th in his first season. this could set the tone for how our next 4-5 seasons go. Getting 4th now and attracting (and hopefully spending for) better players means that we can stay competitive for a long time.

Anyone thats would have us miss out on champions league to stop liverpool winning the league is a liverpool hater not an Everton supporter. I honestly believe that we would get a lot further with Roberto in the champions league than we would have with our previous manager. Getting into the champions league would also give us an outside chance of getting Lukaku on a permanent deal.

Simple really, I support Everton. I only look at other teams results when they have an effect on our league position. I want us to win the league, who wouldn't? If we can't then I want to see us finish as high up the league as we can get. We are a great team why, would I want to miss out on Champions league football for any reason? Forever Everton! other teams just don't matter.

I think most blues can relate to this mate, though obviously it's more painful for some than it is for others. But if Everton were to finish 4th after beating Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea etc don't you think that we could hold our head up high ? Champions League is a dream, competing against the cream of Europe, and we've got the players and the manager to make a decent fist of it. And it will mean so much to the players who've fought so hard to get there. If we miss out this year it's going to be just as tough qualifying next year or the year after, especially if we have Europa commitments as well. I agree we only have an outside chance of catching Arsenal, but it would be fantastic if we did, and only soured slightly by a Liverpool title triumph.

I'll wait until the game itself until I make up my mind. If we can't get 4th and can't be caught by a team behind, and they still have a chance of the title, I'll want us to lose. Probably stating the obvious because under those circumstances I'm sure we all would.

About as far away a comparison with the hypothesis of this question as you can get, you call it when you say we were at the top table of course everything was hunky dory we were competing on every level beating them for transfer targets along the way.
Complete non sequitur to think top 4 sends us on our way to those times only one thing would do that and a white charger with an oil baron aboard appears as distant as ever.
Watching them owning the top table feasting on varied sweet accolades from all and sundry while sitting outside in the rain with a jam butty ain't good - been there done that and it's crap.
It was preferable to bleach at the time. Now I know better obviously; these days I'd calmly go for the Domestos.
