So to those saying they want us to lose, should we go ahead and lose by 10 to make sure Liverpool don't beat City on goal difference (huge wins against Newcastle and Palace aren't that unlikely)? Maybe make it 10 own goals just to be safe?

As much as I hate to admit it, it undermines the integrity of the sport to not play every game to do as well as you possibly can. If we had important games coming up, I wouldn't mind resting players, but self-sabotage to prevent our rivals from winning a tournament we're not even competing for? That is the lowest of the low.

Like others have said, I won't be overly upset if we lose to City, but I am absolutely hoping for a win. I hate Liverpool too, but I won't ever hope to see Everton lose regardless of the circumstances.

I want Everton to win. Most people do on here right?

All were saying is that Everton might not win. And of course we will be sad, but perhaps we will be too proud and pretend we're not bothered by celebrating the loss deep into the night.

No one's fooled though, we are all clearly staunch sky blue.

After a season of our neighbors putting us down and pointing out that eufa is our standard mate, im sad to say that my confidence has been so battered that I'd be happy to get out the city game alive and bring my knife to the Hull game instead and get the points their that we need

Its also possible they both win and put us under pressure and will likely be the case. Im not looking at any other league position but ours, cause ours is the only one important to me. I would put a nice bet on us needing 3 more points this season. If so, i would rather we got it at City cause.

You'd be an idiot to do so. Given we're 9 points ahead of 7th with them having three games left.

pointless bet that would be mate as if we get 1 more point we cannot be mathematically caught by united

Howard was doing commentary on the city Palace match and afterwards was asked about the upcoming game
"they are not going to enjoy coming to our place....we are not going to make it easy for them. They know the tempo that we create, they know the atmosphere that Goodison has, we are going to everything in our power - we have our own goals and our own aspirations for this season so we are not concerned about them and we are going to try to brush them aside like they are going to do to us."

While I hope he's right, he couldn't very well say "We're not going to try too hard here, I don't want those Red Scum waving the Trophy in our faces next summer", could he?

To return the gesture I'd like Liverpool to qualify for the Champions League too. Second or third place enables this to happen. I wish for them to finish second or third.

We're not bitter you see.

If it was possible i'd have preferred for their own good them to have come fourth mate, after so many years without champions league football the play off game could have come in handy to ensure that they don't get off to a terrible start in the group stages, which ofc none of us would like to see being their our beloved neighbors

But finishing 6th doesnt get us Europa League unless Arsenal win the cup? I still think we will need 3 points to guarantee Europe.

It does as City won the Capital One cup so 6th place is Europa We need 1 point to get European football next year.

You want to see my nostradamus type skillz?

Just you watch this week as all their dead neutral ex players in the media start hyping up the City game and insinuating that Everton will throw it because they're dead bitter so they best not OK?

The pressure won't be turned up on City, but on us, as they can't help themselves.

So with all that pressure on us I propose that we bring David Moyes back to guest manage us for one game only so we have a proper chance to say goodbye. High pressure game this David, do your thing.

Someone should really do an advent calendar covering the next six days for them, behind every window can be that Steaua Bucharest banner, or that Agent Johnson one.

I would fully agree only the integrity of sport is bent most weeks by poor officiating bordering on the corrupt.
The best example is the year we came 4th. Liverpool had the rules changed and we got a retired referee to screw us over so 5 teams where not in the CL from England. Sport has no integrity at the top levels.

The integrity of the sport, something that's always the first thing kopites think about when it comes to the beautiful game.
