Anichebe played terrible, he didnt use his height or strength to his advantage at all!!, i only saw him win 2 headers against the defenders...

Just look at osmans goal to see anichebe, he didnt jump at all to get the ball, when imo any other player would have, and would have scored.

when ossie scored, there was this big thing that was at least 16 stone up their with him, maybe it was a spurs defender. :|

as for only two headers, stop blinking dude.

as for his height, gardner is how tall? 6 foor 6 inches? thats taller than me, and im a half foot taller than vic.

Anichebe didn't play well. I do believe in credit where its due, and I thought he lacks the ability to hold the ball up, pass, he isn't aware and he never won any headers and gave away too many free kicks.

Compare that to Vaughan last season against Fulham who was winning everything in the air.

Don't get me wrong, I think he will develop, but at the moment he is weak in areas that we can't afford to be weak in. If everyone was fit he wouldn't be playing.

erm, spurs and fulham are different sides.

vic first half was immense, and regularly got the better of the spurs defenders.

WAtch teh highlights on EFCTV, you wont see anichebe jumping at all to get the ball

Osman beat Chimbonda for a header and he's 3ft 5. I also recall Vaughan giving Zac Knight a game last season and he's 9ft 4.

Credit where its due. Anichebe is never going to be a regular because he just simply isn't good enough. Super sub at best for me, and I guarantee Moyes will think the same thing.

I thought Vic was the week spot in the team today as he didn't keep hold of posession enough for a guy of his strength and size. Given the result though it is splitting hairs a bit and I doubt Moyes wants him to start that many games this season whilst he still improves. Hopefully we'll get Yakubu in and we can use Vic and Vaughan as impact subs from the bench.

No he didn't. Watch the game again mate. In fact watch it and check the times when he lost the ball or gave away a free kick.

He is a squad player at most. Your telling me you would have him over Vaughan? or Yakubu if we get him?

looks like i have some work to do, hopefully someone somewhere will have the game in its entirety and i can handpick the many good things vic did.

having kicked the hornets nest, im going to poke it with a big stick when i say...

...i expected more from johnson tonight.

I like anichebe, i think he could be a great striker, i always defend him, but tonight he was terrible...last words on that...

so...what a match!! Even if you was neutral that match was great!

Well I agree with that one. AJ needs to assert himself more, and we expect more because of his reputation. I don't expect much from Anichebe and maybe that's why you were happy with his performance.

Seriously though what do you see his role?

I personally thought Anichebe was a bit disappointing. Sure, he put himself about a bit... but I expect more than that.

But lets focus on the positives ay lads?

i didnt say that

im not prepared to castigate a player that i saw do well this evening, yes he lost the ball but who didnt? if it had been diego maradona blasting balls up from the defence to him and he was losing out when he was 'clearly first' in the chase then i might be more inclined to criticise, but far too often he was third in the race due to distribution.

this brings me to my overall point. (new thread) ((you can try to rip me to bits in their))

I'm not ripping him apart, I just think he needs to improve his game, and as a football genius that I am, I know Moyes will say the same things to Irvine. ;)

As much as Victor does? Its a good thing, he has lots of potential and I agree distribution from Hibbert was woeful, but he needs to improve because he isn't ready to be the main forward.

He is only 19 though.
