Everton Go Top Of The League

Well I just think under the circumstances we did very well. We have many players out injured, and supposedly some new quality coming in which will improve the team.

We had two defensive midfielders in midfield, so by design that is always going to result in a deep midfield that digs in and defends.

Moyes went their with a game plan and executed it perfectly. I saw exactly what I expected to see and I came away happy. I'm not concerned that Spurs had most of the ball. 55% compared to our 45% is not a huge majority either.

I'm more concerned that our fans are becoming incredibly fickle, and quite frankly are never going to be satisfied.

Of course every side has problems, that's why we sign players. Even Man U have problems. Personally I would say that Spurs have more glaring problems then we do, and judging my Martin Jol, he is a little concerned.

It was a shot in the arm for sustainable growth tonight, as opposed to spend, spend, spend.

And we still have a lot of money left in the pot.

I'd bid for Gerrard, just to piss them off.

But you have to agree that under the circumstances it was a fantastic result and a fantastic performance.

No recognised left back, 2 defensive midfielders, a weakened forward line. I thought it was superb. Personally though I just think its a personal dig at me because I criticised an Everton player and heaven forbid we can't do that hear can we.

I dont think its a personal thing mate, just a clash of opinions.

I think it was a superb performance too.

What makes it all the better is because while the media were using Spurs missing players as an excuse they forgot this:

Injured: Cahill, Vaughan, Baines.

To come: Fernandes & someone ace.

Thats exciting. Keep it quiet but were turning the corner, take a bow Mr Moyes.

Clearly we got the result even if the game was a bit untidy for the first 20-30min. I did like how the announcers kept downplaying our squad or even our ability to crack the top 6 again. I'm sure like many they felt we 'over achieved' (not thhat that is good coaching or anything!). Never mentioned our own injuries or the prospect of having Fernandes roaming the middle of the field. I know it's early and this is a marathon and not a sprint but it sure looks good to be on top and after this weekend even will be in the top 4 still and I'm sure a fixture in the top 6 all season long. So let them continue to underestimate us. We'll be laughing all the way to Europe again.

I think you must understand that the majority of the media roots for clubs like Spurs and especially London Clubs. To me Everton in their eyes should not be alowed into the ball whether the shoe fits or not. I am sure many will agree that there is quite a degree of bias in the media against us.

Still top, even after tonight result!!! Hopefully, after Saturday afternoon, as we celebrate another win against Reading we will be 9 from 9 and number 1!!!
