Everton Go Top Of The League

Anichebe faded badly after an acceptable start. It was an away game and they did have a strong defense.

Johnson played well, but not necessarily as a striker. He tormented them and without him we would have struggled tonight.

Osman, Arteta and Stubbs where absolutely fantastic tonight, whilst Neville and Hibbert need to get to the bench to be honest.

Suits I can understand you defending the kid because he is young and he loads to learn and I was just pointing out my honest reflection on his performance. I thought he lost the ball too cheaply and seems to lack certain skills, although he does try and us Evertonians seem to prefer effort over skill.

But you opened up saying that we had glaring problems and then sought to defend the one player who I thought was the weakest link tonight, and it seems I wasn't the only one who thought so.

I think Hibbert was mediocre but other than that we came to Spurs and did a great job of stopping them scoring and to be honest apart from Berbatov hitting the post and the Howard save there wasn't much else to be concerned about, and that has to be credit to the way we defended.

Some more composure from the front two and perhaps a bit of luck with the Robinson save and it could have been 4.

I think this is a positive result and with the players we have to come in it is looking very rosy indeed.

spurs threatened us more than we threatened them.

berbatov and keane were unlucky a lot of times, and although im not picking a player out to be at fault for spurs midfield dominance, thats only because there was no player there, how often did jenas hammer it wide left and wide right under no pressure into space where a cross came in, sometimes to a poor header, sometimes earning a corner.

spurs had the most corners.

arteta is awesome, how one player can rile an entire backline is amazing, he pissed the left back off, malbranque then went and picked on chimbonda. i'd hate arteta if he didnt play for us.

Well Spurs are a good side playing at home with 40m worth of strikers.

We nulled there threat on more than one occassion by breaking up attacks and playing the counter attack. It was a good result and a good performance. They did what they had to do and I don't think much luck comes into it to be honest, apart from the free kicks.

As for Jenas, now he is gash how he gets in the England squad is beyond me with his little [Poor language removed] roll touch. :)

We won.

Lets be happy. Reading next, 9 out of 9 would be a dream start and not one that many would have predicted.

Imagine now that you are a Spurs fan, how [Poor language removed] off would you be.

And there was loads calling for action on here because Moyes had not spent a trillion dollars on whoever was the flavour of the month.

Have faith, were on the up again.

Anichebe is a developing striker who is not ready yet for the mantle of leading the Everton line. That does not mean he's not going to be a good striker - but he isn't the finished article yet.

We need Yakubu.

confirmation for me.

bent didnt have a good game, he was well shackled by hibbert (just like charlton at home last season) but if we invite such pressure on ourselves in future, eventually we will pay dearly.

"I don't agree, but I'm not interested in fighting about it."

i cant overlook the problem in midfield, i would say the same if we got beat 3-1.

my criticism isnt based on the points, goals, chances (haha) or heart the team showed.

spurs played the most football tonight, and gave us a lesson in passing.

Ok, we had more shots on target than Spurs, and had one less shot in total.

So our midfield created just as many chances as Spurs did, approximately.

I just think your picking holes for the sake of it, and my estimation of you has dipped tonight. 90% of blues are happy.

i dont know what to say, part of me says...

..."shots doesnt equate to shots on target (it was a terrible first free kick by mikel)

and our midfield didnt create as many chances as theirs, not by a long way.

as for picking holes, im concerned that such an accurate passing side as spurs can find so much space in our territory for free. as for your estimation, do you really want a comment on that? i mean, as YOU have brought it up and all.

im over the moon at 3 points, but im not happy at the surrender of important real estate. another day, and spurs would have won. thats the truth as i see it. sorry if it doesnt fall in line with your opinion of 90%.

But Spurs didn't [Poor language removed] win, we [Poor language removed] won 3-1 and we are top of the [Poor language removed] league.

Sorry, your really starting to get on my tits now.
