Everton. I hate you. Again.

4 managers can't get a tune out of this lot, time we pointed the finger at the players.
at times they played ok today, i could see signs at least, but we are not going to uproot any trees because we can't score goals.

Don't rate him at all mate, he looked good at Watford which Watford always look the opening 8-10 games or so (like this season) he's done nothing of note and im confused as to why Moshiri chased him so much before appointing a new DOF.

Alladyce would have won more points at this stage with the fixtures we've had and he was gash.

All about adapting to what you have - Wolves manager is currently doing better with a poorer swuad.

Until we offer top £££ and sell the club to a top quality manager we'll never be anything more than another West Ham, Leicester, Southampton making up the numbers and sadly they all have better forwards than what we do.

... Sam? That you???

Arsenal 1996
Chelsea 1994
Liverpool 1999
Man City 2010
Man Utd 2013 (1992)
Spurs 2008

That is a disgusting, embarrassing list.
Few hard luck stories ( we have won at Chelsea twice but denied last minute by dreadful officiating). Sadly we have never been able to just take the game away from any of our peers for a decade+.

The club is stale and riddled with apathy.
I am not sure what the answer is and after years of frustration have resigned myself to other things of a weekend.

Today I took my son to a Comic Con. It was great fun. I just checked my phone for the result at 5:45. Not for a second did I believe we would get a positive result.

I don't miss watching now either.
When real life is throwing difficulties at you the last thing you need is a team full of millionaires letting you down week after week, year upon year.

The club desperately needs a change in fortune. A trophy / New Stadium, just positives to move forward. Even a derby win would be welcome!

I see people are doing that thing again when they go from thread to thread and abuse every player, the manager, the owner, the DoF and no doubt Duncans thread will be getting a bumping.

Great job lads.
Once again the club we love and support has lost again.lets hope we can stand there and be proud fo again.

Impossible to keep a clean sheet. Anyone who thinks this season will be anything but a relegation battle is deluded. Every team in this division has the ability and players to score against us and that’s worrying.

I'm a bit confused by some of these takes. I'm pretty encouraged honestly. Silva finally set up his counter attacking approach and yes, we lacked quality in service in general and certainly in the final third, but man, we were the better friggin team. Davies wasn't great with the ball, Kenny's service wasn't good, DCL is obviously not at the PL level, but honestly, the manager is pretty competent. It was a smart setup.

Look, going into the season, we were lacking in central midfield, we had issues with 3 of the 4 spots in the back, and we lacked a winger on the left side. I think some of us were concerned about CF, too. Brands brought in some guys to address those issues. Digne has been terrific. Zouma has been capable. Richarlison has been superb. I think Bernard shows promise. We haven't even seen Gomes and Mina. I'm frankly encouraged.

I'll make this bold prediction. We are going to hammer Fulham and Southampton. And we are going to take at least 4 against LCFC and Palace. That'll put us at 13 points and we'll be back well into the top 10. The team has a lot of reason to be confident after that match and I truly believe they are going to find their swagger a bit.

But honestly, we can't fix all of this mess in one window. We just can't. And that's fine.

I se a team well set up and executing a plan. The manager cant be responsible for the collapse of a team he inherited when they go a goal behind.

We've played well attacking wise this season. The defence is the priority....if only Brands hadn;'t bought a CB so unfot he cant play.
And actually, I argue the defensive mistakes are individual, they are not scheme. It's going to take quite some time to correct play like that from Holgate, Keane, others that have been here for a bit.

I genuinely don't know if I can support this team anymore. It's been about 30 years of absolute annoyance, disappointment and I just feel I'm not getting enough back for the emotional effort put in.

The performances from the players and attitude of some just doesn't justify the way they can ruin my weekend.

I think that may be it now. Everton may be the worst team to support in the world. Possibly the worst club for building expectations and letting down globally. Again the attitude today was pitiful and the lack of belief in these away games is shocking. I honestly think I'm done with them now.
Bye. Wipe your feet and don't slam the door.

I suspect that you are not a statistician.

I don't know why everyone's going bonkers all of a sudden. 1 win in 7 is a poor start but I'm seeing shouts of Silva out in the manager's thread and a whole lot of other nonsense. We have to know where we are as a club. We're miles off competing for a top 4 place and finished 7th last season. Realistically any sort of improvement on that would be a success. It's early days and we're only around 4 points away from that so we shouldn't panic just yet. Do we want to be better? Yes, but you can't just splash money at the problem with no plan and expect instant success unless you go out and buy the cream of the crop in terms of players ala City. We can't do that.

To me over the last few seasons, we've thrown money at the problem without a proper plan at all. We've gone out and bought players who we thought could improve our squad and performances in the league, but in most cases we've used those said players poorly. To me it boils down to: what do we want to do as a club? How do we want to play? We need an identity. I saw some good moments yesterday against Arsenal. We pressed them high and won the ball and went through on goal twice from which we should have scored at least one. Our passing was sharp. Do we want to continue that going forward? Do we want to emulate a Liverpool or Spurs type of workrate and identity, or do we want to build from the back up ala a Mourinho team and become defensively solid and just an overall solid team? Going by Silva's history as a manager I think we already know the answer to that. He's not known for building stellar defenses. I hate to use them as an example but I've a few family members who are pool supporters. Look at what Klopp has done over there. His first season was a write off because he inherited a load of [Poor language removed] from Rodgers. He instantly knew what he wanted to do with that side and got them to two finals. He then improved the side and the next goal was qualification for the champions league. Check. He then got rid of more of the deadwood and the next goal was to stay where they were and compete. He qualified them for the champions league again and also got them all the way to the final of a champions league. Check again. Last summer they spent even more and now look like a proper side who can not only challenge but win things. That first full summer he didn't just go and buy any players. He didn't do that last summer as well. Look at Van Dijk. He couldn't get him in the summer so they waited until January. Klopp has identified players that only fit his system and it's either he gets those players or no one at all. There's a master plan there and he's been given the time to execute it and it seems to be working. Pochettino has done the same with Spurs and seems to only go for players that can fit the system because he knows exactly what system to use. They were just let down by the board this past summer.

I think if we give Silva adequate time and see that there is indeed a plan in place, we'll improve. We still have players to shift who aren't good enough or don't fit a system. And yes, I am including some of the ones we've bought for big fees. We need a few windows. Last summer I saw us buy players who fit a specific type of style Silva wants us to play. Richarlison, Digne, Bernard are all the types of exciting players we'd only dream of getting in days past. There needs to be a long term strategy here. It's not as if our lives depend on champions or europa league qualification so we don't' have to pressure our managers into achieving something impossible in a short amount of time. Obviously if our form falls of a cliff or if it looks like Silva really isn't sticking to a long term strategy and identity for the club, we might reconsider. But for now we get behind the club the manager and the players.

Be arsed reading all that..

Silva has been relatively consistent in how he wants his teams to play, which is actually quite defensive and mostly counterattacking in nature. He strayed a bit from tgat against West Ham and while we probably were unfortunate with that scoreline, I think he learned his lesson.

We have the players to dominate most teams in the league though. In a way we did that against Arsenal but just couldn't finish. I'm not sure being defensive and counter attacking in nature is the way to go. Silva doesn't have a good defensive record.
