Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

Son ones 21 and ones 18. Tell me which one is going to be an overager in the 18s...
Does it really matter?

We have two back-up GKs who likely won't be here next season and one out on loan who likely won't be either. It's a young lad for the academy and maybe to be in/around the first-team squad in the future.

Very, very strange thing to get wound up about.

BBC say: "Twelve months on, Spurs signed two Juventus players for at least £24m, sold England midfielder Dele Alli to Frank Lampard's Everton for a fee of up to £40m and loaned out three players."

Love how Spurs have spent the minimum but we are made out to have spunked another 40m on a player when the reality is far from it.

Thats the media for you…same as our £500 million spending compared to the RS £150 or so…..one net and one gross.

I think the Deli Ali loan/purchase is pants but quite happy with the rest of the deals especially
the VDB loan because without Doucoure the midfield is crap.

It will be fun to see where Deli plays coz he is really a no. 10 and for that to work you
need two top midfielders behind him doing all the work.

A little bit underwhelmed TBH. I think we've come out of it a little unbalanced, like we do every window.
We could have done with a new CB and a DM but going by the rumours it seems we needed to shift Holgate potentially to get another CB in and we tried, and failed, to get Gueye on loan. If VdB and Alli can add some creativity then I hope we’ll be ok second half of the season.

I will say there were less drawn out media stories this window. Usually the VdB transfer tussle would have gone on for days - wonder is that the absence of brands or did the gravity of our position put a bit of urgency into things.

We aren't going to fix the squad until we are able to release lots of the high earners who don't contribute.

Tosun
Delph

All high earners coming out of contract

Then there is also Begovic, Kenny. That's a lot of wages coming off the books.

We are also likely to sell one of Richarlison and DCL, and Mina will probably have to be sold as he will enter the last year of a contract. The chances are we will have a smaller squad and room to sign 2 or 3 good players in the summer. The first thing though is obviously not to get relegated.

BBC site is run by kopites so hardly a shock.

VDB: £500K loan fee
Alli: Free (rising to £33mil)
El Ghazi: Covering wages
Patterson: £11mil (rising to £16mil
Mykolenko: £12mil (rising to £17mil)*
Crellin: £200k

= £23.7mil. Or basically the Digne sale.

*Mykolenko £12mil fee is a guess.

Yup, all of those things happen in the summer if we survive. The winter window is generally for Band-Aids.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to get a couple of midfielders yesterday. But I look forward to a day when we are not scrambling around with a new manager on deadline day looking to find players to save us. Good teams don't tend to be active on the final day of the window every year. We need to get away from this.

Yeah I agree but wish we'd have got a deeper midfielder in, perhaps instead of either VDB or Alli. Could be wrong like, and I guess (or hope) the new boss has a clear plan, because I know those above him don't.
