Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

Lucescu is quoted as saying: "Mykolenko is going to Everton. He will be the first big transfer out of Dynamo since (Andriy) Yarmolenko.

"He's a young player and he should be an example to others. It's very important to allow players to fulfil their potential and give them chances to fulfil them."

I’d rather we just kept digne and signed a rb instead, spending so much on a lad that’ll likely flop to replace a position we’re ok in seems a bit silly

I would agree if Digne wanted to stay, it looks like he is off to Juventus or Inter according to reports (nothing concrete though only rumours!)

Digne is a great player but has been rather crap for over 12 months, think its his time to move on plus we should get a good price for him, (something that we need to do more often is move players on when they are obviously off the boil for a sustained period of time, Coleman is a perfect example of this)!

We paid 27 for him didn't we? Don't think we'll get more than 35 for him. A bit of a gamble selling one of our best players.

I swear to God if he goes to Juve and it's on a stupid loan arrangement, I'm going to chain @davek and @ForeverBlue92 to the Finch farm railings in protest.

What are you suggesting that Dignes current book value is Zat?

Fair point, will be under £7.2mil now.

Those already celebrating Mykolenko as a replacement for Digne might get an eye opener when you actually see him, 3 assists in 21 Farmers League games this season.... 7 goals and 20 assists in 139 games.....

Massive downgrade, but we all know what agent Benitez is up to, more deadwood in the years to come.

That’s all irrelevant because Jaffa doesn’t want him crossing the half way line.

Quite funny to complain about goals/assists for a player who plays left back and centre back...that we'll be signing for his defending.

As someone who attended the Dynamo Kiev vs Bayern game recently I can comfortably say that the LB made no impression on me whatsoever. The Right winger on the other hand…

Thats Tsyganov, hes their best player and a star for the national team.

It’s got all the makings of a loan back to Kiev after 18 months after being a flop

Why? Good player and very highly rated.

As i posted yesterday, theres not many quality u23 left backs available...plenty of right backs funnily enough.

This is correct if we started on a level playing field at profit and sustainability of zero pounds, at present according to figures released we are still 35 million behind the eight ball, but this didn't include the 7.7 million we got for James though.

Plus I don't think we can afford to sell Holgate at 5 million as we don't have a squad until we get replacements

BT Sport's presenter said there is money to spend in January.

What money is this? Has someone found a 50p in the Bullens Road gutter?

The money we get selling digne

I think we paid about 18m for him.

Wasn't it 18 million, could be wrong though, and he has resigned a contract so it would be interesting to see what book value he has

Sure @Zatara can let us know on this

As @jazzy just highlighted i was wrong with my last comment on this.

We signed Digne for £18mil and he played roughly 3 seasons for us before extending his deal.

So £18mil ÷ 5 (his contract) = £3.6mil
£3.6mil × 2 (years remaining) = £7.2mil.

He then signed a 4 year extension so the £7.2mil ÷ 4 (length of contract) = £1.8mil.

Lets call it 3.5 years left (as i cant be bothered to calculate too much as he extended mid season) which would be £6.3mil.

So, if we sell Digne for £25mil we cover the £6.3mil = £18.7mil.

We can spend that amount all in January. This means we can sign players and spread the fee over the length of the players contract.

In theory we could sign players totalling £18.7mil × 5 = £93.5mil

The only caveat here is that for the next 4 summers we would continue to pay £18.7mil a summer after the first payment of £18.7mil.

One other thing, his wages will have increased with the new contract, i wouldnt be surprised if they were close to £100k. They will be gone and free up space in the wage budget.

So, do we sell Digne and then immediately invest £93.5mil payable in £18.7mil installments over the next 5 years?

Bear in mind he will be gone as well as Tosun, Kenny, Sigurdsson, Lonergan and Delph in the summer which would be around £400k a week wages or another £20.8mil.

Sell Digne, sign Mykolenko and still have around £75mil to play with in Jan + the saving on wage difference.

I suspect we could sign four starting players with that money...

Left back: Mykolenko
Right back: Patterson /Aarons / Ramsay
Defensive Midfield: Kamara
Right Wing: Antony

I suspect we'd have cash left over to add to any proceeds from a Mina sale.
