Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

Nothing is free in football you absolute lunatic.

He'll have a signing on fee, wages of 40k+ a weeks and would want atleast a 3 year contract, which cost the club MILLIONS of pound for a player who's only ever going to be a bench player IF we had loads of injuries.

Its all relative - Sean Longstaff on a free transfer and 50k wages is infinitely cheaper than **insert CM name here** signed for £10-20 million on 50k a week wages.

You're still missing the crux of the issue that the club have posted massive losses due to the last 2 DOF's wasting millions upon millions therefore we have to wheel and deal to avoid FFP trouble which inevitably means the odd non inspiring signing like Townsend and Longstaff coming in to plug holes in the squad.

Crying about it and hammering the player before he even signs/kicks a ball for us is scandalous behaviour imo.

So in reality they have only lifted the ban they put in place to stop Newcastle breaching fair & market rates rules.
Still would have to be sanctioned by the league.

Nothing has changed.

If we pay Sean Longstaff £50k a week then we have literally learned nothing from the past 5 years.

Delete the name Sean Longstaff

Insert the name Salomon Rondon

My understanding is that UEFA hit Wolves with a punishment not worth talking about, the PL simply ignored it, I believe.
Yeah, but wolves didn't break premier league rules. Nobody has ever done it. The equivalent is EFL rules where pretty much every club failing has had points deductions.

Its likely that we failed for the season up to the end of June, and an agreement was reached with the league to cut costs and agree with them before spending any money.

We probably cut 40M costs last summer and probably have to do the same again next summer without any big sales...

Whether we hear about the breaches or not is another matter... They may keep it quiet, who knows. The legal battle between city and the league was going on behind the scenes for years before the public got any knowledge of it, so they probably want to avoid that and a cost cutting agreement is probably the sensible way out...

….why are posters who offer reasoned views about not signing a player ‘bedwetters’? Posters who resort to name calling when they are a bit lost.

Very informed opinion regarding Barkley and Longstaffe from Everton fans who don’t want to see us relegated.

Because it isn't reasoned views on display.

Saying you would rather no one on the bench over a free transfer because we cant sign a £15+ million good player is entitled tantrum throwing behaviour.

Would love to know where some of these fans were during the Kenwright/Moyes era of signing players like Segundo Castillo for a pony.
