Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

You compared him to Hibbert, mate.

Hibbert got zero goals and ten assist in his entire Everton premiership career
Coleman got 26 goals and 32 assists

He was exceptional in his pomp, people just chose to forget that for some reason
Just on this one, I think Hibbert is a bit unfairly targeted for what he did going forward. It wasn't his job. I mean, it's impressive he never scored for us once in a competitive match but, defensively, he was a rock. Coleman has been a magnificent servant for the club for over a decade, same with Hibbert. Just completely different players.

If we were to sign Mykolenko and Patterson they certainly would be for the longer term and have resale value.

Signing a mix of players is not a huge problem and Countinho was a very talented player at his best .
Injuries and cost would make this a very risky deal.
A short term loan with an option to extend may be the answer but I would prefer somebody younger and without the baggage.

Like Digne eh

Did you find the statement of him refusing to play David ?
Still waiting.
Neither players or clubs will ever confirm anything like that....it would be unprofessional .

I think we all recognise that there has been a disagreement between manager and player and that both parties want a parting.

Everton will appreciate the funds but I doubt if Digne is being forced out of the club and forced to join Chelsea or Inter.
This is a movie that suits him incredibly well and instantly gets him challenging for trophies.

I agree with this, it is just the original OP suggesting Hibbert was better, he clearly wasnt the better all round RB, just a good wall for a while. Do you not remember the amount of hate he got for his performances? Some of the worst grief I can recall as an Everton fan

I thought the issue was the debt created by weekly salaries and not signing fees?

With ammortorisation (spelling?) we would be able to spend. Losing He who not to be named, Tosun and a few other fringe players our salaries are reduced giving room for new players?
I can’t pretend to understand the detail of the accounts, but the losses have been huge. It’s not just a wages problem, it’s a general affordability issue.

Over the next two windows, we will ideally need to sign, a RB, LB and one or two CM’s. It seems likely that Holgate and Mina will leave soon, plus one or other of DCL or Richarlison. That is seven or eight players and more than we will probably need to sign.

As I said it will be a mix of academy players, free signings and a limited number of purchases.

Im not keen on this palace fan, he’s another fan who all of sudden thinks Everton are the same level as palace, like you hear off wolves fans or Southampton or Leeds. I’m sure he’s loving this season, seeing youngsters playing exciting football. And if they scrape top half and say finish 9th they will be partying for 2yrs.

The difference is we want and expect more, im not saying sign coutinho. But the only option we have is either sign youngster and hope they come good, and we can’t even attract the best youngsters IE Bellingham is not coming to Everton. Or we buy 2nd/3rd rate players, which has been a disaster. And cost us fortunes.

And the we can’t buy great players at the perfect age, like Grealish. So for me it wouid be signing mainly youngsters and add in a couple of top class players on the way down, like James. You need that sprinkling of stardust

And by pass signing the likes of siggurdsson, Tosun, Bolasie, Schneiderlin, Klassen, iwobi etc. and if you can pick up a gray cheaply then great.

Coutinho doesn't even look like a footballer when he plays now, which isn't very often as he's been completely overtaken by the youngsters at Barca. His confidence must be absolutely shattered. It'd be a million-to-one shot for him to come here and be a success.

I never hated Hibbert, always thought if he was about 2-3 inches taller he'd be a CB and probably in the England squad. Guy was a rock usually defensively. I do recall people slating him for going forward and I get that part but, personally, I love Hibbert. Great player for us.

Punt out Rodriguez, sign Coutinho. What a club.
