Looks like Tosun is staying put for now. It has been reported several times that Besiktas want him back on a free, but we want either a cancellation of the remainder of his contract or for them to pay his wages for the last 6 months of his contract and neither seem to be an option at the moment. Unless something changes he will probably stay and see out his contract.

Signing these 2 full backs who have been targets of the club for a good while just shows Jaffa boy isnt as some think in charge of transfers.

Probably the reason why he got the job ahead of the likes of Nuno who would insist they brought their own staff and players in.

If you look at the squad and the way we are constantly over run in midfield its the best formation by far.

A decent Centre mid brought in transforms this team.

Since we apparently bid for Patterson in the Summer we can safely assume the scouting started before then unless he was another player Benitez belled up in China.

Yesterday the alternatives to playing Digne failed miserably and contributed to us sacrificing 3 valuable points in the fight against relegation.
I take exception to your implication that this situation is purely beneficial.
It is the product of stupidity.

The suggestion that having Digne on the pitch would have prevented defeat or gained 3 points is a very simplistic and biased interpretation. In fact Digne had not featured in a game won in his last 7 appearances before being dropped (including 5 losses). We have actually won 2 from 4 games since he was dropped. This not a defence of the performance against BHA or even Benitez. It is really about balance in criticising EVERY decision, personally I think if Digne leaving funds two young hungry full backs it is sound football business.

Benitez is apparently a paradox that is unbelievably stubborn with a huge rampant ego, incapable of compromise flexibility, unable to man manage etc.

Yet apparently he’s also perfectly happy for Moshiri and Kenwright to do his transfer business for him based on the scouting of a director of football he presumably helped get removed

Do people not realise how ridiculous this sounds?

Since he came through the door every signing we’ve made has been a Benitez one, it was always going to be, he’s a control freak who has to do things his way. At least though it means we know exactly where the accountability sits good or bad.

Convenient game though to give Benitez all the bad signings and then any decent ones give to Marcel Brands, ffs.
