Everton January 2022 Transfer Thread

The only benefit I can see to longstaff is that it might mean Benitez has realised playing 2 in midfield and getting overrun every match isn't a sustainable future.

Other than that, see the move being about as successful as Rondons.

Nothing wrong with Digne, obviously has his faults but one of best LB’s in Prem. the problem is down to Benitez being a pr*ck and refusing to play him probably because Digne didn’t bow to him when he entered the room
off topic i know but if we do go down what a day out in south london that will be next season ?

I agree he is a busted flush but he is still astute. He is not going to win anything or do anything exciting but he is a safe pair of hands to play horrible football and guarantee PL midtable each season without breaking the bank
You say he’s a “safe pair of hands”.

6 points out of 36, the worst run of form in living memory, the worst stats in the PL Olin many different areas and his clueless setting up of the team suggests he isn’t.

Villa Fan in Peace...

I have posted here a good few times in the past and I often pop in to read the views. So far I think you guys should be happy, two new much needed fullbacks and decent ones at that. These positions were the biggest gripes I have seen here in the past.
There is obviously a problem with Digne, lots of Villa fans wanting us to sign him but the general feeling is he will go to Chelsea to replace Chilwell or City to replace Mendy. How the hell can a player that can't get in the Everon side be linked with two of the teams in England and then Toon offer 22.5m plus Longstaff for him. Is it an attitude issue he has or is the waiter being an idiot?
The waiter is being an absolute fool. Rumour is Digne confronted him about the absolute crap football he wants us to play and was subsequently dropped and havent played a game since, even when its clear to anyone that we are a stronger side with him in it. I dont want him to go, he is one of our best players even if the super defensive style doesnt fit him. I also dont want him to have his prime years robbed away by the disgrace we now have managing us. If Chelski comes calling, i absolutely understand why he’d want to go. Id be very surprised if he goes to Newcastle or Villa tho, no offense intended.

Please explain what you mean by astute and how benitez meets that definition from what he has done since signing for us.

It’s just the usual head patting, Astute and doing a ‘good’ job but bet he wouldn’t have him at Villa, it’s allaydyce all over again where fans would say what more can you ask for but wouldn’t have him as manager at their clubs.

Gravy slug was an infinitely better manager aswell during his time here

I stopped watching under Allardyce.

If we swap one of the top LBs in the league for a 3rd rate midfielder that can't even get into the team of a club doing worse than us, then I'm not sure how much longer I'll last watching us while this manager is here. And that's genuinely upsetting.

But I'm glad other clubs fans find that enjoyable.

If you had been watching then you'd know that Digne has been well below par this season, no assists, cost us several goals. Not that I'm suggesting that Longstaff is the answer to anything.
