This is truer than it has any right to be...We have TWO scouting networks. One is the Kia Jooarbchain client list, and the other is players featured in youtube clips Jim White texts to Moshiri with assurances "the lad can play".
A midfielder I thinkWhat position is he?
I keep saying it but it's all about how good the players are and how they fit in not where we sign them from or how old they are. Gana wasn't young and on paper at least didn't have a point to prove but he was a good signing whereas Kean was young and on paper had a point to prove but he wasn't a good signing. Loads of this stuff is said in hindsight and the narrative is fitted to what we want it to be so if Gbamin and Iwobi come in and are great then they were great signings who had points to prove but because they didn't do that it means they were the wrong profile of signing.
Playing for Chile has done wonders for his career. Could see him doing a bosman somewhere abroad next season.I watch a lot of the championship as I actually prefer it to the PL and he is a real standout player but Blackburn want £35m for him even though his contract is up in the summer. Best just to wait and see what happens with him but I know he is getting a lot of interest from bigger clubs across Europe.
Honestly not really though. Better but not by much on all counts aside from health vs Gbamin.Longstaff signing makes sense to me, much better than Gomes or Gbamin. Probably better than Davies as well.
I’m not missing the point I’m saying how we view players is inevitably shaped by how well they do. Just being a 20 year old from the championship doesn’t in itself make you hungry and ready to improve that’s more to do with your personality and professionalism which means a 28 year old coming from Chelsea might be better at it than an 20 year old from Wycombe. And of course you’re using hindsight it’s not a criticism but what else could you be using to talk about players we had in the past. You miss my point, yes its not just about age but character along with ability to make it in one of the toughest leagues in the world.
You use Kean as an example, his character by all accounts was all wrong, he felt he was bigger than us coming from Juve, often turning up late etc but he also didnt have a run of games to really show what could potentially happen.
Gbamin is a weird example, he was 24 when he signed and looked the real deal in Germany. Came to us and had a horrific injury and seems to have. completely lost his way.
Iwobi- I cant actually believe hes a professional footballer. No idea what happened there.
Not using hindsight just highlighting the profile of players that have worked for us, not just big names on the way down or platers feeling like theyre taking a step down to be with us and over paid for the privilege.
Cannae wait for the arrival of Longstaff me...
No longstaff 7 mill is just crazy has to be better deals. The reported 1 mill is
Three very different cases. Kean to big for his boots with a bad attitude. Gbamin we will never know. Terrible bad luck with injuries but time to touch him on . A loan the only way. Iwobi good attitude , trains well but no use. Same result though for them all which hopefully is bye byeYou miss my point, yes its not just about age but character along with ability to make it in one of the toughest leagues in the world.

He's a bad player. There is no reason to be signing a bad player.
Say what you want about Brands, let Rafael being in old favorites and turn us into Newcastle from 3 years ago isn't a good page to turn to.Bad manager signs bad player in bad move shocker
No one. I mean absolutely no one would surprise me coming through the doors anymore. This is the fella that not only signed Rondon, but continues to give the steaming turd minutes.

I guess I agree but it is also tough to do that job without support above you and the ability to overrule the manager. I don't think Brands ever got either.Well Brands was a massive failure and I think we can all agree on that.
BUT, I completely agree that I'd rather have my dog pluck random players out of a hat and I'd back her to select better players than Benitez who 100% is trying to destroy Everton from the inside out.
